The Fourth of July Celebration
Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the Jersey City Municipal Council, the Office of Cultural Affairs, and Exchange Place Alliance announced on Wednesday, June 8th that Flo Rida will be the 2022 headliner for Jersey City’s Fourth of July Celebration. Flo Rida is a Florida native who was launched to fame when he released his 2007 hit, “Low.” He has since had a host of other hits, including, “Club Can’t Handle Me,” “My House,” “Whistle,” “Wild Ones,” “Right Round,” and more. Joining Flo Rida are DJ Diesel, better known as Shaquille O’Neal, as well as FunkFlex.
This celebration has become a favorite for both locals and out-of-towners. It has consistently attracted top musical talent, including Village People (2016), Jersey City’s own Kool and the Gang (2017), Snoop Dogg (2018), Pitbull (2019), and local native Akon (2018 & 2019). It’s also been known to draw crowds over about 150,000 people from all around the area and outside of the state. The event, as always, will be free.

After the musical performances, fireworks will color the Jersey City sky with the Manhattan skyline in the background. Jersey City’s fireworks – conducted by Guinness World Record holder, Fireworks by Grucci – will be launching from two barges located in the middle of the Hudson River with a large viewing area this year, according to the press release. Spectators can watch the fireworks show along the Hudson River Walkway, from the north field at Liberty State Park, and most overlook areas in The Heights.
