Cilantro Pizza and Burgers is one of the newest restaurants to be opening soon in Jersey City. Located in a former McDonald’s storefront, Cilantro’s storefront sign is up, the tables and chairs are in place, and the menu is set. Those who pass by 564-566 Newark Avenue will see for themselves. Cilantro’s Ambiance
The owners are already generating some buzz for Cilantro along Newark Ave. Situated on the corner of a busy intersection, passersby can’t help but notice Cilantro’s open windows and black-and-white wallpaper underneath the windows that give away what’s to come: “all-day breakfast,” “handmade pizza,” and “delicious burgers.”

The front doors, centered in the middle of the restaurant, have two additional signs that read, “Burgerlicious!” and “There’s always time for coffee.” Inside there is plenty of seating space, keeping with the black and white theme. White chairs and spotless tables are already set for customers. In the back of the space, there are glass display units to see what’s available to order and to grab snacks and drinks.
According to the website, “Cilantro is a place where Italian food and good people meet every day, every time and with every weather. We can’t bring sunny Italy to you, but we still can bring you the joy that Italian food can offer.”
Sneak Peek at the Menu
The options are endless. The “all-day breakfast” menu includes a variety of breakfast sandwiches, omelets, crepes, and specialty items like the breakfast pizza (made with potato crust, parmesan cheese, crumbled bacon, eggs, and garnished with chopped chives), avocado toast, pancakes, and poutine. Cilantro also has readily available hot and cold coffee drinks to keep locals energized at all hours of the day.
The starters and sides consist of Irish nachos, fried cheese curds, mac and cheese with Applewood smoked bacon, soups, salads, and chili. There are also chicken tenders and traditional jumbo chicken wings, sandwiches, flatbreads, and paninis.
Cilantro’s main focus is the burgers and pizza. The burgers are all specially-made and served with house fries, house-made cilantro slaw, and half-sour pickles. The 7 Napkin Burger, Truffle mac and cheeseburger, and Albuquerque Turkey Burger all sound delicious! Veggie burgers are available.
Per the website, the pizza is unlike any other. It reads, “Our Neapolitan Fusion Pizza uses two-day fermented dough, creating a soft and yet crunchy canvas allowing our creative ingredients to come together in, dare we say, ‘A Masterpiece!’ Personal-sized pizzas are 10 inches. Large pizzas are 16 inches.”

Customers can create their own pizza pies or choose one of the specialties such as Forest Pig (shaved prosciutto, mushrooms, fresh basil, mozzarella), Cajun Shrimp (spicy Cajun shrimp, green peppers, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella), and BBQ Pulled Pork (house-made bourbon BBQ sauce, pulled pork, white cheddar cheese, red onion).

Hoboken Girl has learned that Cilantro is “ready to open,” but is still waiting for its permit to legally be allowed to operate. The owner is hoping Cilantro can open sometime in November.
Cilantro will be open from 7AM to 1AM Monday through Sunday. The restaurant will be offering a pick-up in-store option and delivery through delivery apps. More information to come.
