Another new business is making its way to the Mile Square, and it comes in the form of the popular fitness chain Body Fit Training (BFT). BFT is an instructor-led, small-group training studio that’s set to open at 770 Jackson Street, on the first floor of 7 Seventy House. The workout spot recently announced that it will host its soft opening in Hoboken from May 16th to May 19th, with four days of free classes for customers. What We Know

Signage went up on the ground floor of 7 Seventy House (770 Jackson Street) for a new workout studio back in August of 2023. The studio, called Body Fit Training (BFT), is an instructor-led small-group training studio with workouts tailored to each trainers goals.

We now know that BFT will make its debut in Hoboken on Thursday, May 16th, 2024. The soft opening will last through Sunday, May 19th, and include a variety of free classes for customers. You can find more information here.

Hoboken is one of many locations across the country set to open in the coming year, joining an already sizable amount of studios: 250+ operational studios in the U.S. and over 600 franchises sold globally.

So, what exactly does “instructor-led, small-group training” entail? According to the BFT website, each workout is “custom-curated” to each members’ fitness goals, with an instructor leading 50-minute class programs, which vary between different fitness focuses like cardio, strength, functional, and core stability. BFT describes its studio as “personal training in a group setting,” and from what we gather, classes at BFT sit somewhere between a traditional gym and a class-based workout studio, almost like a co-working workout space.

BFT’s arrival came just two weeks after the abrupt announcement that Hoboken’s Retro Fitness studio was closing for good and would be replaced by a new gym, Fitness Factory. Members of Retro Fitness were transferred to the Jersey City location, which caused some frustration among local residents. You can read more about that here.

In the past few years, Hoboken’s group fitness scene has expanded tremendously. Locals have their pick of the litter with studios like Rumble, Jane DO, YogaRenew, and more. Find a list of unique local fitness classes here.
