The Upcoming Closure
Local non-profit What Hoboken Sounds Like first reported on the news of Torna’s upcoming closure on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025 via Instagram.
A sign on the window says that Torna’s last day in business will be July 24th.
“Dear Valued Customers,
With a heavy heart, we announce that Torna’s Pizza will be closing doors on July 24th.
Since 1960, we’ve had the honor of serving you our family’s homemade pizza, made with love and tradition. Your laughter, loyalty, and stories have filled our space with warmth beyond words.
This is not a goodbye to a business — it’s a celebration of the community we built together.
Join us until July 24th for one last slice and memory. We’d love to see your faces on more time!
The Torna Family”
The Torna’s team told a member of the HG team that the pizzeria was getting hard to manage. This post will be updated with any further comments.

About Tornas’s + Its History in Hoboken
Two families by the names of Lisa and Cammarano immigrated from Monte San Giacomo, Italy, and opened Torna’s in 1960. Torna’s literally translates to “return.” By means of hard work and quality products, customers did just that.
Eight years after opening its doors, Antonio Cammarano and Pasquale Lisa sold the business to Nicola Percontino. Nicola and his wife, Angelina, immigrated from Italy to Hoboken with their five children — the children who would eventually inherit the same unbelievable work ethic of their parents to continue the family legacy. Their son, Antonio Percantino, took the business over for a time, followed by his son, Nico, who currently owns Torna’s.
“I’m very happy to own Torna’s, it’s what I’ve always wanted because I always wanted to make my grandmother proud,” Nico previously told Hoboken Girl. “I’m also the best at making pizza.”
Even though new generations have taken over the shop today, there is still an impressive cross-generational presence with an “all hands on deck” mentality going strong throughout Torna’s. A large portion of the family work together at the pizzeria, keeping it a true family-owned and operated establishment.
Torna’s is a quaint spot that is great for dining in or taking out. Everyone who walks in the door is treated like they’re part of the family.
The secret to the pizza? It’s in the sauce. The team previously shared with HG that only a handful of people to this day know the recipe — it’s their best-kept secret. Best known for its Sicilian pie (also available by the slice), meatball parm sub, and eggplant, the menu spans all the classic appetizers, calzones, and pasta dinners of the same quality. See below for a few photos of the spot’s delicious pies.
The pizzeria is open until 3AM on Friday and Saturday, which is clutch for late-night workers and even more popular among the crowd spilling over after the last call at 10th and Willow.
Torna’s represents spending time together as a family. With the simple phrase, “We’re gonna meet at Torna’s,” this pizzeria has been at the center of the families involved and the Hoboken community ever since it first opened.
