The Hudson County area has had its fair share of celebrity sightings over the years (and let’s be serious, the last few weeks) — from Sons of Anarchy star Ron Perlman at the Hoboken waterfront at the beginning of this month to Meghan Trainor at the Jersey City Target in November. Just last night, three more celebs were in Jersey City, this time a group of well-known rappers: Lil Yachty, Drake, and Offset were all at Liberty Science Center’s planetarium. On Thursday, January 26th, the trio was there to celebrate Lil Yachty’s new album, which was performed at the planetarium, and officially released Friday.

“Huge congrats to Lil Yachty, who’s dropping his new album, Let’s Start Here, tonight in our planetarium!

All night, Yachty is playing the album for a packed theater of fans and special guests, with the music accompanied by custom 360 visuals.

There’s no better place for an album listening party! Thanks for thinking of us, Lil Yachty, and congrats again!”

Miles Parks McCollum, known professionally as Lil Yachty, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. His album, Let’s Start Here, was released on January 27th, 2023.

At the event, he was joined by none other than Drake and Offset. Offset, who is married to Cardi B, lives in Tenafly, NJ.

About the Planetarium

LSC’s Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium is the largest planetarium in the country. Its dome has a diameter of 89 feet, a lighting system capable of producing over 281 trillion colors, and five speaker arrays and 16 subwoofers generating 30,000 watts of sound — so clearly a pretty incredible place to release a new album.

While known for many field trips for New Jersey students in their elementary school years, it’s also been a place for adults to hang in the evenings at the ever-popular LSC After Dark events for 21+, and the science center also recently hosted a Taylor Swift laser light show for fans after her latest album release.
