We here at Hoboken Girl absolutely love celeb sightings in Hudson County + the greater North Jersey area. In the last few months alone, Hoboken + Jersey City have been visited by stars like Eva Longoria, Robert De Niro, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Wahlberg, and Johnny Depp. Most recently, on October 21st, singer/songwriter + TikTok star Meghan Trainor visited the Target in Jersey City (located at 100 14th Street) to buy a copy of her recently-released latest album, Takin’ It Back. Meghan isn’t the only one to have visited this local Target. John Legend was spotted about a month ago for an album signing, and back in 2019, Taylor Swift also paid a visit ahead of the MTV Video Music Awards. Speaking of Taylor, she just announced her tour dates for what she’s calling her Eras Tour — and she’s once again coming to East Rutherford, New Jersey in May of next year. We’re eagerly waiting to see if this means yet another visit to the Jersey City Target. Read on to learn more about Meghan Trainor’s recent trip to JC — along with some other celebs who have visited the Jersey City Target.

Meghan Trainor: October 2022

It felt like you couldn’t go anywhere in 2014 without hearing ‘All About That Bass.’ This song marked Meghan Trainor’s first hit and launched her into fame. Since then, the now 28-year-old singer/songwriter has released a host of hit songs like ‘Me Too,’ ‘Like I’m Gonna Lose You,’ ‘Lips Are Movin,’ and more. Oh, and she’s also married to Daryl Sabara of Spy Kids fame.

On October 21st, Meghan released a new album called Takin’ It Back — which is the first album she’s released since giving birth to her son in February of 2021. As such, this album touches on some more intense topics than her previous work, as Meghan uses this record to explore the raw realities of motherhood.

“In previous albums, there would be a simple love song or an ‘I’m going to be confident today’ song,” Meghan told Entertainment Weekly. “These songs are like, ‘Y’all, I’m struggling. This is real, but we’re all in this together. Who’s with me?’ It’s just more real and raw.”

To celebrate the release of her album, Meghan visited the Jersey City Target on Friday, October 21st to buy herself a copy.

“I’m here at Target. Gonna buy my album. Relatable,” she shared in an Instagram post.

She also handed out albums to fans — and there was even a cameo from her dad, Gary, who proudly bought a copy of her album as well.

John Legend: September 2022

EGOT-winning singer/songwriter John Legend visited the Jersey City Target a month ago as part of an album-signing event to promote his new album, Legend. John released Legend on September 9th.

He shared on Instagram, “To celebrate the release of #LEGEND, I’ll be in person signing copies of my album! There will be limited availability so make sure you sign up now at the link in my bio.”

Then, on September 10th, he Tweeted, “Just got to Jersey City. Come see me at noon!”

John also visited Rough Trade in NYC on the same day as part of this promotional tour.

John has been a force in the music scene since the early 2000s and is one of only 17 current EGOT winners. He’s married to Chrissy Teigen, and together, they share two children (and they currently have one more on the way!).

Speaking of artists who recently dropped an album: Taylor Swift also paid a visit to the Jersey City Target back in August of 2019. Taylor was local for the MTV Video Music Awards, which were held that year at the Prudential Center in Newark. She had just released the album, Lover, in August of 2019 — which was her seventh studio album.

None other than Hoboken’s own Matthew Rubel, who co-owns Acai Ya Later, posted a picture with Taylor.

Since then, Taylor has gone on to release a host of more albums — including Folklore; Evermore; Fearless (Taylor’s Version); Red (Taylor’s Version); and her tenth studio album, Midnights (which came out on October 21st of this year). She’s been breaking records left and right — such as recently becoming the artist on Spotify with the most streamed album in a single day.

Taylor also just announced her highly-anticipated next tour, complete with two dates in New Jersey. This tour, known as the Eras Tour, will be a journey through Taylor’s musical past and into her present. The tour will begin in March of 2023, and she’ll be headed to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on May 26th and May 27th.

Getting tickets for these tours has been known to be notoriously difficult — basically, she uses the Ticketmaster Verified Fan method for tickets, where you have to sign up ahead of time to then hopefully receive a code giving you a designated opportunity to shop for tickets. Fans have until November 9th to sign up. You can click here to learn more information.

We’re personally hoping this means we may see another Taylor Swift sighting locally in May of next year. Maybe she’ll even visit the Target again.

So for anyone wanting to see a talented celeb, it seems the Jersey City Target is a good place to visit. We can’t wait to see who shows up there next.
