The 20-week course will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:30PM and is free for members and just $200 total for non-members. This introduction course will focus on the “hows” and “whys” of Judaism and cover core concepts, master stories, key figures, Jewish theology and history, prayer + much more.

Hoboken’s Pilsener Haus & Biergarten kicks off its Annual Oktoberfest celebration starting THIS FRIDAY, October 1st at 6PM. This month-long series of events will kick off with a “keg tapping” followed by an outdoor music festival lasting through the weekend. Women’s March Hoboken

Hoboken joins other North Jersey communities for a Women’s March on Saturday October 2nd. Marchers should meet at the Hoboken PATH Station, 1 Hudson Place, and will stay there until 2:30PM and then will walk down Washington Street and end at 14th Street Viaduct. The coordinators request those marching to bring signs/posters, and noted that this is a peaceful march.

Breast Cancer Awareness 5K with 902 Brewing

Saturday, October 2nd 

Join 902 Brewing on October 2nd for a “5k-ish” course that starts and ends at this brewery. All participants will receive a free craft brew from 902 Brewing, a choice of a collector’s pint glass or seasonal swag item from the Brewery Running Series, access to giveaways, and much more. The race will support the Lori Sorrentino Hennessey Scholarship, a scholarship named in honor of a local community member who battled breast cancer. The scholarship supports a female student of Italian descent who is pursuing a degree in education.


2021 NJ Tri-County Heart Walk

The annual American Heart Association’s (AHA) NJ Tri-County Heart Walk is taking place on Saturday, October 2nd, and you can participate either virtually OR in-person at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park at 9AM. Walkers and runners can choose to participate at the park or run their own path anywhere else – donations to the organization will help improve lives and spread awareness for stroke and heart attack victims, as well as Congenital Heart Defect survivors. One such survivor is our Hoboken Girl founder, Jennifer Tripucka.

10th Annual 4 Miler

Run the 10th Annual 4 Miler on Saturday, October 2nd at Garret Mountain in Woodland Park, where all the proceeds directly support St. Joseph’s children’s hospital, specifically the Child Life Department. Partake in a walk/run to raise money for children and their families who are under the hospital’s care. The cost to participate is $25 for a 4 mile run (USA Track and Field Certified) or 1.5 mile walk and $5 for a kids dash. Learn more here.

Sea Turtle Race 5k + Family Fun Walk

Saturday, October 2nd | 8:30AM

The 3rd Annual Montclair Sea Turtle Race Run will take place on October 2nd at Orange Reservoir, 9 Cherry Lane in West Orange. The race will travel on a USATF certified course around the Orange Reservoir in West Orange. This year’s race is nicknamed the “Cold Stun Run” to bring awareness to the sick sea turtles that are cold-stunned from failing to migrate south before the temperature becomes too cold. The 5K race will start at 8:30AM with a 1.7 mile Family Fun Walk starting at 8:35AM. Refreshments will be available after the race at Clipper Pavilion. Discounted admission to the Turtle Back Zoo will be available to participants that present their race IDs at the zoo admission ticket booth.


Succeed2Gether’s Montclair Literary Festival

The Fifth Annual Succeed2gether’s Montclair Literary Festival will take place on Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3. ‘The Fonz’ Henry Winkler opens the festival at 10AM with a hybrid event discussing his journey from a dsylexic child to a Hollywood superstar and children’s author. All of the events on Saturday are free. E Street band member Stevie Van Zandt will close the festival with an in-person event on Sunday, October 3 at 5PM. There will also be a headline online event with Irish author Colm Tóibín on Sunday, October 3 at 2PM. Proceeds from all events benefit Succeed2gether, a Montclair-based non-profit 501(c) organization that addresses unequal access to educational resources for low-income families and children from Montclair and Essex County. Church of the Holy Spirit’s Celebration of Pets

Artist Issa Sow will lead “Let’s Play Together,” a weekly creativity workshop for kids ages 3-11. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
