Jersey City’s much talked about French eatery, Madame, has recently launched its exclusive brunch menu. Featuring oysters, croque monsieur, and skirt steak and eggs, the menu is just as exquisite as the restaurant itself. Not to mention, there are specialty cocktails served specifically for brunch as well as pitchers of Bloody Mary’s and mimosas. The Hoboken Girl got the scoop on the new brunch menu from Madame’s chef and owner Jamie Knott. Read on to learn more.

A New Concept

Madame launched its all-new Sunday brunch menu — that goes from 10AM to 3PM, on May 21st. Jamie said that they came up with “Brunch At Madame” because the owners — including himself and partner Robert Palmer — were aware of how much the neighborhood loves brunch. This fall, they plan to serve the brunch menu on Saturdays as well as Sundays.

Jamie shared, “Guests are super excited and have raved about the food and beverage. The Madame Benedict section [on the brunch menu] does well for us. There’s a lot of great options.”

The menu was created with help from the restaurant’s chef Christopher Arturo. Chris and Jamie worked together at Jamie’s other restaurant, Saddle River Inn, where Chris worked as the sous chef five years ago.

Jamie, who is also the owner of Jersey City’s Cellar 335, shared with HG what makes Madame’s food unique. “Our salmon is cured in-house with beet juice, sugar, and salt. We use height-of-the-season local ingredients wherever possible and there aren’t many French restaurants around that can match our quality and ambiance,” he said.

About The Menu

Madame’s brunch menu is different from its dinner menu. Jamie said, “The bottom half is all new. There’s brunch cocktails, Red Light and Green Light District (Bloody Marys) as well as larger [sizes] of mimosas and bellinis.”

For hors d’oeuvres, there are various oysters guests can select from, an artisanal meat and cheese board, French onion focaccia, prime beef tartare, and burrata among other options. The main course includes croque monsieur, omelette Florentine, avocado toast, French toast, and a crispy chicken sandwich. There are four options for Madame Benedict: Taylor ham, short rib, duck confit, and smoked salmon.

As far as drinks go, there are five brunch cocktails to choose from with fun names like Lady Antoinette, Overnight Celebrity, and Brunch in Paris, as well as Madame’s specialty cocktails such as C’est La Vie and Spicy Demoiselle. To one-up the dinner menu, there is a special section for drinks that serve three to four people, including La Vie En Rose made with Brooklyn gin, aquavit, watermelon, mint, lime, and sparkling rose, and pitchers of Bloody Marys, mimosas and bellinis.

What’s to Come

In addition to Madame expanding its brunch menu to Saturdays this fall, Madame is also incorporating a Drag Brunch, which will take place once a month. It will also host a Pride night on Thursdays called “All the Queens’ Men.”

“Our goal for the next two to three years is to be the premier French restaurant in New Jersey and also bring the concept to upper Bergen County,” Jamie added.

Apart from Madame, Jamie, and Robert are currently in the process of opening their fourth restaurant together called Kinjo, named after the Japanese word for “neighborhood”. The new Japanese-inspired restaurant will be opening in Newark, inside the Urby building, at the end of summer.
