Five Below will be opening soon in Newport Plaza. The discount superstore will be located at 125 18th Street, taking over Pier 1 Imports’ former location. The Grand Opening
Five Below JC is scheduled to open on Friday, September 24th at 10AM. The original grand opening date was scheduled for August 13th, but has since been pushed back to September 17th, and now finally September 24th.

Shoppers who frequent Best Buy, Acme, and Target in the area may have noticed the Five Below sign already up (see above) and “coming soon” posters. Other stores in the small plaza include Laundry Factory, Sally Beauty, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, and Papa John’s Pizza.

What’s Inside
The discount retail chain is known nationwide for having awesome deals on products for “tweens and teens” that would be more expensive elsewhere – and they’re all “high-quality.”
The shop is known for having a huge candy (5 for $5!) and snacks selection, little fun odds and ends, and toys and accessories for kids. It also has neat tech products sold at an affordable price, beauty and personal care products, apparel and shoes, pet supplies, seasonal and party decorations, and more.

While the concept is “five” dollars or below, prices range and can go up to $10. However, there are a ton of good deals for $5 like backpacks, throw pillows, stereo headphones, phone cases, and beach towels.
For $10, consumers can get a deluxe studio ring light and tripod, a digital alarm clock with a wireless charging pad, a wireless Bluetooth speaker, a collapsible pet carrier, and a karaoke single speaker with a mic set…Hence the slogan of “Hot stuff. Cool prices.”

The Philadelphia-based retailer has over 1,000 stores across the nation. In September 2020, Five Below opened its 1,000th store in Houston, Texas. The chain was founded in October 2002 by Tom Vellios and David Schlessinger. The chain prides itself on helping communities and giving back.
