Rumors have been swirling about Equinox potentially making its way to Hoboken since March — but while we wait for more details on that, Jersey City’s Equinox confirmation is t’s that the luxury members-only gym franchise is coming to Jersey City. A source close to the project shared exclusively with The Hoboken Girl this week that Equinox’s Chilltown location will make its debut in the new Harborside 4 complex, which will be located at 20 Columbus Drive. Details right now are slim, but we’re sharing what we know as of August 29th, 2024. Expansion to Hudson County
On August 28th, a source close to the Harborside 4 project shared exclusively with The Hoboken Girl that Equinox will be located in the new Harborside 4 complex, located at 20 Columbus Drive in downtown Jersey City. Harborside 4 is a new high-rise residential project that will have over 12,000-square-feet of retail space as well as 800 residential units, per Jersey Digs. While the exact location of Equinox in this complex is not disclosed at this time, the fitness chain will be one of the retail tenants.
As for the potential Hoboken location, on March 26th, HG received a tip from a reader: “There’s buzz that an Equinox is coming to Hoboken!”
Accordingly, the reader heard rumors from two separate Equinox employees on two separate occasions. One employee’s confirmation could only go as far as “whispers” that “may be true,” but asked to remain anonymous to avoid issues. We have since heard from several sources that Equinox is indeed coming to Hoboken, but again, all alleged until confirmed.

After reaching out to the Equinox team this spring about the alleged expansion to Hudson County — specifically Hoboken at the time, a concierge rep said “At this time, we don’t have more information to share, however, we are excited about the possibility of future new club locations!”
The words “new” and “locations” were highlighted yellow in the response. Now in August, we still do not have official confirmation of a Hoboken location of Equinox, though we have several sources that wish to remain anonymous yet have all but officially confirmed that Hoboken is also getting an Equinox location.
Currently, Equinox has two New Jersey locations: Paramus and Summit. The gym has plenty of locations scattered around NYC, the closest to Hoboken + Jersey City being Equinox Printing House.
About Equinox
As far as gyms go, Equinox is polarizing among the public. Bearing the motto “It’s not fitness. It’s life,” the members-only gym presents more as a luxury resort than a fitness center, with its own spa and steam room to boot. The decadence means the prices are decadent too: according to Popsugar, as of 2024, “the exact number depends on your location, desired access, and level of commitment,” the most basic memberships starting at $200 per month. The highest tier of membership, the Equinox Destination Membership, ranges anywhere from $345 to $405 per month — again, depending on location.
Equinox was formed in 1991 “on the notion that fitness can empower a life well-lived,” per its website. There are 108 Equinox locations worldwide, spanning NYC to Boston, Chicago, Connecticut, New Jersey, Los Angeles, and even Canada.

This isn’t the first fitness chain to announce its expansion to Hudson County recently. Just a few weeks ago, the news broke that international gym franchise, Barry’s Bootcamp, is opening its first New Jersey location in the Mile Square.

Hoboken staple Antique Bar + Bakery has done it again with the Willow Avenue location with a menu chock-full of flavorful combinations. The team can make almost any dish gluten-free, dairy-free, and/or plant based while relishing in vintage-inspired decor.
