Jersey City foodies will soon have another spot to add to the rotation. A new Korean-inspired restaurant called Dubu Hana is headed to 8 Erie Street in Downtown Jersey City, taking over the former home of The Boil. Read on for everything we know so far about Dubu Hana’s upcoming Jersey City arrival.
What We Know About Dubu Hana in Jersey City
Per Jersey Digs, a new Korean-inspired concept called Dubu Hana is headed to Downtown Jersey City. In the publication’s report, it states, “During their May 19 meeting, Jersey City’s Alcoholic Beverage Control heard an application to transfer a liquor license inside the ground floor of the TelCo Lofts at 8 Erie Street.”
The address immediately caught our attention, as the space was previously home to The Boil restaurant. The Hoboken Girl team previously reported on the seafood spot’s closure back in December 2025. At the time, the Erie Street restaurant had shuttered operations and completely wrapped its windows, with no official note posted on the door explaining the sudden closure. The Boil was also listed as “temporarily closed” on Google Maps.

Now, it appears the closure has been confirmed, with a newcomer officially preparing to take over the space. That newcomer is said to be Dubu Hana.
The Team Behind Dubu Hana
Dubu Hana comes from the team behind Mökbar, the popular Korean ramen concept founded by Chef Esther Choi. Mökbar currently operates multiple locations throughout New York City, as well as an existing New Jersey outpost at Newark’s Gateway Center.
After doing some digging, we found that Dubu Hana has already launched a website and Instagram, though details remain minimal for now. Currently, the website features just one message teasing what’s ahead: “Something SEOUL-ful is coming soon. Featuring Chef Esther Choi.”

The restaurant’s Instagram also hints at a fall 2026 opening in their bio, though no additional details or photos have been shared at this time.
While an official opening date, menu, and hours have yet to be announced, the teaser is already creating excitement among local foodies. We will update this story as more details are released.
