Cavany Foods, a gourmet meals food supplier, has opened its first brick and mortar at 235 Grand Street, Jersey City. Serving downtown locals and residents at 235 Grand apartments, Cavany may look like a quick pick-me-up marketplace and coffee shop, but there’s a whole lot more: plenty of seating, delivered meal plan options, early and later hours, room service — the list goes on. Now, Cavany Foods is officially holding its grand opening (which is available by registration only) on August 16th at 10:30AM. Serving the Community

Cavany Foods is owned by Juan Delgado and chef Alejandro Fuenmayor. Both owners hail from Venezuela and reside in Jersey City. The full-service meal preparation company was founded in 2017. Over the years, Cavany has participated in pop-ups in town, including the Grove Street Farmers Market, and has gained popularity. In May 2020, it was reported that Cavany would be opening its first ever market at 235 Grand, occupying 1,750 square feet.

“Cavany Foods is a local business with a loyal following and a high-quality product. We’re delighted to partner with them on their first retail location,” the building’s developers’, KRE Group president Jonathan Kushner, said at the time.

After two years in the making, Cavany Foods’ shop opened at the end of June 2022. The Mayor and city of Jersey City will be celebrating its opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 16th. 

About the Menu

Upon entering the gourmet market, customers can choose from a variety of fresh meals to go, baked goods, and products on steel shelves (in case customers need to stack up on some necessities). There are a variety of Cavany Foods branded products that are made fresh, such as olive oil, salad dressings, mango salad, Greek salad, hummus, alfajores, chocolate ganache, and key lime pie. The coffee is from Nespresso and pastries are from Balthazar Bakery (see below).

Some made-to-order dishes include culantro young roasted chicken drumsticks, angus flank steak ropa vieja, grilled jumbo shrimp salad, eggplant parm, cheese spinach fried ravioli, fresh grouper ceviche, and crispy teriyaki branzino. There are organic and vegan options as well as a create your own pasta options. The possibilities are endless!

Cavany is open seven days a week from 6AM to 10PM and is available to cater corporate events and social and private celebrations. Delivery is offered through major food delivery apps as well as on Cavany Foods’ app. Check out the website to see weekly meal plan options.

Those who live at 235 Grand have special perks when it comes to ordering from Cavany. Residents can now order Cavany for room service. They also get a private entrance to the market, which can be found in the building’s lobby.

The Grand Opening

Cavany Foods will host its grand opening on August 16th at 10:30AM. According to its invitation, the event will include food, drinks, and a formal celebration of the business’ opening. There will even be a tasting menu and free samples of some of Cavany’s favorite food offerings.
