Hoboken Residents Opening Gluten-Free Bakery ‘Annie & Em’s’ in Former Tutta Pesca Location

A new gluten-free bakeshop is coming to town and setting up shop in the former home of beloved seafood restaurant and market, Tutta Pesca, located at 155 Third Street. Annie & Em’s Bakeshop is owned by sisters who are Hoboken residents but previously operated through pop-up markets in Monmouth and Mercer county areas. Read on to learn more about Hoboken’s newest business addition.

The announcement was made via Instagram on Monday, October 19th — sharing the exciting news that the sister duo would be opening a bakery in the former Tutta Pesca location on 1st Street.

“We started Annie & Em’s Bakeshop in 2018 with a serious sweet tooth and a big dream, not knowing what in the world we were getting into. We just knew we loved our signature gluten-free sweet treats and wanted, more than anything, to be able to share them with the world! From our first Farmers’ market in Asbury Park to today, it has been nothing short of an amazing adventure,” the owners shared via Instagram. ⁣

“Hoboken has such a special place in both of our hearts, not only because we both live here, but because of the amazing community and local businesses that make Hoboken what it is. We cannot wait to open our doors and share our signature sweet treats with all of you! Even though we are setting our roots in Hoboken, we will continue to offer deliveries and pop up at markets in the Monmouth and Mercer county areas, that got us to where we are today,” they continued. “Make sure to keep an eye on our page for updates on the process and opening dates and details! And most importantly, thank you endlessly to the family, friends, customers, @chamberswalkcafe @tuttapesca, and everyone in between, who have helped get us to this point. We certainly wouldn’t be here without all of you!”

Annie & Em’s Bakeshop was founded by two sisters who grew up in New Jersey, that always had a soft spot for sweets.  The brand’s mission is to provide premium gluten-free creations. In addition to always being gluten-free, the company has a selection of vegan items as well.​ From cookies to cupcakes to brownies to donuts to shortbread, Annie & Em’s Bakeshop serves up an array of sweets.

The signature products and baked goods are on sale at farmers’ and makers’ markets throughout New Jersey, available for custom order {requests must be made at least three days in advance of market}, and can be baked-to-order for larger celebrations and special events {reach out for a custom confectionary consultation}. Soon, they’ll be available in-person in Hoboken — with a timeline TBD.
