We know it’s the end of August, but don’t worry — summer isn’t over, yet! There is still time to soak up the sun, have a drink, or listen to some tunes in the Hoboken + Jersey City area this week. In order to celebrate the happiest of hours, we’ve put together a guide of some can’t miss events and specials. Aaaaand, since this week is JC Pride week, there are a ton of events to celebrate. There are also game nights, movie nights, DJs, end of summer parties, and oh, so much more. Here’s what’s in store for you with the best Hoboken and Jersey City happy hours of the week:
Monday – August 21st
Game Night at The Shannon {Hoboken}
Join The Shannon {106 First Street, Hoboken} for game night this Monday. On top of the traditional bar games {pool, darts, foosball, etc.}, they will have exciting other games like Connect Four, Apples 2 Apples, Parcheesi, Chess, Jenga, and other. Mix in a couple drinks and you’re in for a great night of games and fun.
Celebrate Pride at Roman Nose {Jersey City}
Even though it’s normally closed on Mondays, Roman Nose {125 Newark Ave, Jersey City}, is having a special celebration in honor of JC LGBT Pride. The night consists of a special cocktail social including complimentary bites from 7PM – 9PM and a happy hour until midnight. Come join for delicious food, tasty drinks, great music, and good company.
Tuesday – August 22nd
Open Mic Night at Maxwell’s {Hoboken}
It’s your time to shine. This Tuesday at Maxwell’s {1039 Washington Street, Hoboken}, there will be an open mic night that is literally open to everyone. There will be a five piece drum kit with all hardware plus cymbals, a bass amp, and two guitar amps. All performers get a minimum of two songs. Visit here for more info + reservations. River Knome at Iron Monkey {Jersey City}
Stop by Iron Monkey {99 Greene St, Jersey City} for their monthly plant night on their gorg rooftop this Tuesday at 7PM. This event is hosted by Plant Nite Northern NJ and is sure to be worth a visit. Attendants can expect to eat, sip, garden, and leave with a cute lil’ gnome plant. Tickets can be purchased here.
Wednesday – August 23rd
Bringing the Beach to Boken Happy Hour at Birch {Hoboken}
Come celebrate all things summer at a special happy hour event at Birch {92 River Street, Hoboken}. This night will be full of cocktails + drink specials, delicious boardwalk-style bites, raffles, and more summer-style fun. Bonus: you’ll get to taste the newest creation Birch has to offer — homemade gelato and alcohol-infused sorbet! A Summer Night Under the Stars at Hard Grove {Jersey City}
At 6PM this Wednesday, Hard Grove {284 First Street, Jersey City} welcomes you to a summer night under the stars. This event is taking place to celebrate LGBT Pride Week. Attendants can expect music in the patio, drinks, menu specials, and whole lot of fun.
Thursday – August 24th
Spaghetti Dinner Block Party at The Waterfront {Hoboken}
Experience a different type of happy hour this Thursday on the waterfront. Originating in 2005 to celebrate Hoboken’s 150th Anniversary, the Spaghetti Dinner Block Party is back for another year of fun. Tickets include four kinds of pasta, meatballs, sausage, eggplant parmigiana, salad, bread, and Italian desserts {oh, yum}. Guests will also be delighted with a performance by Zack Alexander {2016 Sinatra Idol Winner}. Wine, beer, water, and soda will also be available at additional cost in order to raise funds for the Hoboken Ambulance Corp. Tickets can be purchased at City Hall, but for more info, check this out.
OSO at Raval {Jersey City}
This Thursday at Red Lounge at Raval {136 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}, join a “Hirsute” Happy Hour in celebration of Jersey City LGBT Pride. They are having a special extended happy hour from 7PM – 11PM with no cover. Enjoy beats by DJ Gustavo downstairs and a full tapas menu upstairs.
Friday – August 25th
Haus Nights with DJ Cream at Pilsener Haus + Biergarten {Hoboken}
At Pilsener Haus + Biergarten {1422 Grand St, Hoboken}, DJ Cream will be spinning beats all night. Grab your friends and come on down to groove to his unique sounds and celebrate Friiiiiyay.
Night Fever at FM {Jersey City}
Dancing Tony, Rock-it Docket, and DJ Pastiche present an unforgettable night at FM {340 Third Street, Jersey City} this Friday at 10PM. Night Fever is a ’70s Disco dance party in celebration of none other than JC Pride Week. DJ Dancing Tony and Pastiche will spin a “’70s centric” disco dance party. It’s free admission, but make sure to dress accordingly for this ’70s #tbt.
Saturday – August 26th
McGregor vs Mayweather at The Shannon {Hoboken}
In case you haven’t heard, Irish UFC fighter McGregor is taking on Mayweather in a boxing match this Saturday. What better place to view this than at Hoboken’s #1 Irish bar, The Shannon {106 First St., Hoboken}? The Shannon advises to get there early to avoid the line and secure your spot to view the match. For the non-boxing fans, they also will have DJ Skinnyjimmy spinning in the back room so you can dance instead of fight. Either way, it’s sure to be a blast.
Mayweather vs McGregor in the Atrium {Jersey City}
If you just can’t miss the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight, but hate the idea of staying inside on a Saturday night, head over to Lutze Biergarten {15 Second Street, Jersey City}. Guests can enjoy two massive 20 x 20 foot screens to witness this highly anticipated fight. There will also be multiple food vendors throughout the venue in addition to signature delicious cocktails. Sunday- August 27th
Handoff Summer Pier Party at Pier 13 {Hoboken}
Not ready to let go of summer just yet? Neither are we. Pier 13 is partnering with Handoff to host the best summer pier party yet. This Sunday from 3PM – 11PM, Pier 13 will be offering sangria, punch and beer specials that change every hour. This event is completely free to enter for 21+. In addition to some great drink specials, there will also be a bunch of attractions like a Slip n’ Slide, water gun fight, water balloon fight, and of course, their food trucks. This event is an end of summer can’t miss.
JC After Pride Hangover Brunch {Jersey City}
It’s the brunch we’ve all needed: a hangover brunch. At FM Jersey City {340 Third Street} this Sunday at 11AM, attendants can drink and eat their hangover away at the Official Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival closing party. There will be performances that start at 1PM. This is a can’t miss Pride Event.
