Hoboken is no stranger to coffee-related news, and this time, the news is a new coffee shop opening downtown. A new specialty coffee shop called Pour Amor had its grand opening in the Mile Square this weekend. The new cafe is run by two local business owners as a joint venture, as well, giving Pour Amor a strong Hoboken brew. Read on for what we know about Pour Amor, which is located at 123 Washington Street.

The Location

Pour Amor has taken over the previous Empanadas Cafe location, now located right next door. According to Jersey Digs, the Hoboken Historical Preservation Board first discussed an application last July for signage to adorn the storefront at 123 Washington Street. Nearly a year later, Pour Amor is finally open.

A restaurant called ‘Latin Rotisserie’ was originally slated to open in the space, however, those plans never came to fruition.Instead, Hoboken residents can enjoy pour-over coffee and cinnamon sugar bagel bites at Pour Amor.

About the Owners

Both Massimo Aronson and Nico Aronson are already known in the Hudson County area as established business owners from shops that most of us know quite well. Massimo is the owner of Bagels on the Hudson, the only 24-hour bagel shop located in Hoboken. They are also the owners of Buon Appetito in Bayonne.

What We Know

The shop describes itself on Instagram as a place for “specialty coffee from around the world,” with “each batch roasted to order” and “blissful freshness and exquisite taste” in every cup.

More importantly, though, Pour Amor describes itself as Hoboken’s first pour over specialty coffee house. For those who may not know, pour over coffee is made by manually pouring hot water, set to the exact right temperature, onto ground coffee beans, then allowing the caffeinated beverage to brew. “Using freshly ground beans and water set at the perfect temperature, we carefully pour over our grinds to get a beautiful bloom and open up our coffee to reveal the true intention of our thoughtfully Harvest beans,” Pour Amor’s Instagram explains.

Pour Amor is now open at its 123 Washington Street location in Hoboken. The cafe will be open seven days per week, as well, keeping residents caffeinated every day. Follow @thehobokengirl on Instagram to stay up-to-date.
