If you are over 21 and live in New Jersey, the state is giving you an incentive to get vaccinated — if you haven’t gone already. On May 3rd, Governor Murphy announced a new initiative to promote vaccinations amongst adults in New Jersey. Keep reading for more about New Jersey’s new ‘Shot and a Beer Program.’

Governor Murphy launched the program stating that “any New Jerseyans who gets their first vaccine dose in the month of May and takes their vaccination card to a participating brewery will receive a free beer.” {As if we needed another reason to visit a local craft brewery in the state, but we’ll take it}. The governor joked during his briefing that this program is literally the only reason he regretted not waiting to get the vaccine.

“We’re at the point where those who were already motivated got their vaccinations. We’ve now got to focus on those others,” the Governor said.

Now that New Jersey is making it easier than ever to get vaccinated, especially with updated walk-in vaccination times at select sites, May is a great time to get vaccinated. The governor is hoping the program will help the state reach its initial goal of 4.7 million New Jersey residents vaccinated by the end of June.
