If you’re looking for something outside-the-box to do this weekend that includes shavasana, you’re in luck. It’s International Yoga Day on the 21st, so this weekend, Yoga Fest Jersey City is taking place in the Newark Pedestrian Plaza. Here’s more about the event {which is FREE, btw!} happening this weekend:
About Yoga Fest Jersey City
Yoga Fest Jersey City is an inclusive event, offering yoga for children, chair yoga for those in need of more support, laughter yoga, and Kundalini yoga in addition to a master class taught by Yogeswari, a senior Jivamukti Yoga teacher. Yogeswari is known for her vigorous, innovative sequencing and thought-provoking teachings.

Additionally, there will be a singing bowl workshop held in the Jivamukti yoga studio, as well as meditation workshops and live music all day outside in the pedestrian plaza. The music lineup includes Indian musician Mindra Sahadeo, Brooklyn kirtan artist, Hinudstani classical vocalist Samarth Nagarkar, sitarist Arjun Verma, conscious reggae/dub band Universal Rebel, rock/Americana artist Debra Devi and C.C. White.
According to Austin Sanderson {co-founder of Yoga Fest Jersey City and co-owner of Jivamukti Jersey City}, “Yoga is a lifestyle. It involves more than just going to a fitness class — it involves seeking to bring balance into every aspect of one’s life. That balance requires cultivating a plant-based, eco-friendly, mutually beneficial relationship with our planet that seeks to tread lightly and do no harm.”

Event Details
In true yogi fashion, the event begins at 6:30 AM on Saturday, June 22 and ends at 6:00 PM. When you get there you will register and sign in, or you can pre-register here to speed up the process. The first 200 attendees will receive a FREE gift bag.
There will be over 25 events this year as well as musical performances.
