With spring and warmer weather heading our way, all we can think about here at The Hoboken Girl is heading down the shore with a Wawa sub. An eagle-eyed HG reader noticed earlier this week that Wawa now lists a location at Route 440 + Danforth Avenue on the app, leaving residents with the question — is Wawa coming to Jersey City? We heard back from Wawa on Tuesday, March 11th, and a representative confirmed that Wawa does not have plans to expand to Chilltown. Read on for more about our findings.
What We Know
On Sunday, March 9th in our Hoboken Girl Insiders Facebook Group, a reader posted a screenshot of a new Wawa location listed at Route 440 and Danforth Avenue in Jersey City on the Wawa app.
Upon further investigation, several HG team members searched for this potential Wawa location in their own apps, but did not see a Jersey City location listed in the Stadium Plaza Shopping Center.

The Hoboken Girl reached out to Wawa and a representative confirmed with our team that the convenience store chain does not have plans for a location at Route 440 and Danforth Avenue in Jersey City, despite being listed in the app. This post will be updated with any further information.
Back in May 2024, it was rumored that Louisiana-based fried chicken chain Raising Cane’s might also be coming to the same shopping plaza — while there have been no updates since then, everything we know so far can be found here.
