Back in March, the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District shared that a new cafe concept from the team behind Uncle Momo was headed to 197 Newark Avenue. Now, Vis à Vis Cafe Bistro has officially opened its doors in Downtown Jersey City, serving coffee, breakfast, lunch, and light bites. Vis à Vis Cafe Bistro is located at 197 Newark Avenue in the heart of Downtown Jersey City. The new cafe comes from the team behind Uncle Momo and brings a bright, airy space to the neighborhood. The interior has a relaxed cafe feel, making it a good spot for catching up with friends over coffee, grabbing a casual breakfast or lunch, or settling in with a laptop for a work session.

The menu features a mix of coffee shop staples, fresh bites, and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Guests can expect espresso drinks, lattes, specialty teas, and other cafe favorites. Food options include salads like Greek salad and tuna salad, plus sandwiches and toasts such as caprese sandwiches and za’atar toast. The cafe also serves staple dishes, including hummus plates, shakshuka, and acai bowls, for those looking for a lighter breakfast or lunch.

From Uncle Momo to Vis a Vis Cafe Bistro
The team behind Vis à Vis Cafe Bistro may already be familiar to Jersey City + North Jersey locals. The new cafe comes from the owners of Uncle Momo, the Lebanese-French restaurant that first opened in Jersey City in 2017. Over the years, Uncle Momo has become known for its blend of Middle Eastern flavors and French-inspired cafe culture. The restaurant has built a loyal following for its housemade dishes, including freshly baked pita, signature hummus, mezze plates, and Levantine-inspired entrees. With Vis à Vis Cafe Bistro, the team is bringing a similar cuisine to Downtown Jersey City in a more casual cafe setting.
Vis à Vis Cafe Bistro is located at 197 Newark Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey. The cafe is currently open Monday through Saturday from 7AM to 8PM, and Sunday from 7AM to 6PM.
