Hoboken restauranteur Luca Infantino is the man behind beloved breakfast (and more) spot Alessio’s. In the time that Alessio’s has been in business, Luca has added a new location every year, and this year is no exception. For Alessio’s fourth year in business, a new project called Terrace by Alessio’s will open this spring in uptown Hoboken. The new venture is an indoor/outdoor all-day restaurant adjacent to the Northwest Resiliency Park. The Hoboken Girl had an exclusive chat with Luca to learn more about his latest venture. Read on to learn more about the newest Hoboken restaurant from the team behind popular cafe Alessio’s.

About Alessio’s

When Luca Infantino opened Alessio’s in 2020, it was his first time owning a restaurant. He had gained food industry experience back in Italy, but the Hoboken pizzeria and cafe was his first true solo venture. Now, four years later, Luca has built his own Hudson County empire: two year-round locations and a seasonal kiosk at Hoboken’s Pier A Park. Alessio’s currently has locations at 539 Park Avenue in Hoboken and 99 Franklin Street in Jersey City.

Alessio’s is a go-to neighborhood spot for its breakfast sandwiches, pizza, and treats aplenty. At the heart of it is Luca — he’s nearly always on-site, checking in on guests, saying hello to regulars, and extending his signature Italian charm to all.

New Location

The newest member of the Alessio’s family will be called Terrace by Alessio’s, located at 1201 Madison Street near the Northwest Resiliency Park. It will be an all-day eatery — and is slated to open in late April or early May 2024.

Luca has shared the plans for the new space exclusively with The Hoboken Girl. He said, “With Terrace by Alessio’s, we are planning to bring the same Alessio’s concept but with a different feeling: brunch menu, coffee, gelato, breakfast sandwiches, panini, and pizza — but mainly a completely new and different dinner menu, considering we are providing table service for 50 people seated indoor and 100 outdoor.”

Luca continued, “My goal is to bring families together in a place where they feel comfortable. At Alessio’s on Park Avenue, we get those needs from families and people but the place is now just too small to accommodate everyone in their own special way. We like to welcome them. Together with the City of Hoboken, we are working hard to have this place as the magnet for a lot of activities and events that are happening in the city so residents and visitors can enjoy more and not only limited to always Washington Street.”

The Northwest Resiliency Park has been in the works since 2004 when it was envisioned in the town’s master plan, but it wasn’t until 2016 when the City of Hoboken acquired six acres of land in Northwestern Hoboken that things kicked off. The space is meant to play a role in the town’s water management strategy while providing residents and visitors a welcome place to enjoy. A temporary park was erected on the site from 2017 to 2019. In 2019, work began in earnest on the site,  and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in June 2023 to officially open the park.

Luca says he plans to open the restaurant in late April or early May. Since the park features many open spaces that look inviting for a picnic, we foresee a summer full of delicious meals al fresco courtesy of Alessio’s. And for those looking for work-from-home-but-not-from-home spots, Alessio’s will have wifi that Luca says will cover the whole park.
