The Best Spots For a Photo-Op In Hoboken + Jersey City

With all of the historical architecture mixed with modern wall murals, and picturesque, waterfront views, it’s hard to put the camera down when taking a stroll through the streets of Hoboken and Jersey City. There are so many great spots for taking engagement photos, influencer fashion shoots, or artsy pics to amp up the ‘gram. We, however, spoke with a few local influencers to find out the top-notch spots around to take a photo. Read on for a list of gorgeous spots and backdrops around Hoboken + Jersey City to upgrade your Instagram flow. 

Grove Street {Jersey City}

Downtown Jersey City is a great, urban spot for a photo shoot, and you won’t hold up traffic as you snap selfies since the street between Grove and Newark Street is closed off to cars. There are also several wall murals to take advantage of to serve as photo backdrops.

Bluestone Lane {409 Washington Street, Hoboken}

This blue and white, Australian themed coffee shop is Instagrammable inside and out. Local influencer, @kerifay often shoots here to take advantage of the natural light, picturesque interior, and not to mention the beautifully displayed food. The food tastes as good as it looks, too.

Pier 13 Hoboken {1301 Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}

Pier 13 is a perfect spot to grab a photo during the warmer months with a cocktail in hand, sitting on a lounge chair. In the chillier months, although the cocktail photo-op is out of the question, gorgeous views of NYC are still available to serve as the backdrop for your photoshoot. The colorful, painted walkway and outstanding views of uptown NYC will have you snapping pics all day.

Halifax at The W Hotel {225 River Street, Hoboken}

Not only is the food ‘gram-worthy, Halifax, the restaurant inside the W Hotel, known for its excellent brunch menu, is also a fantastic place for a photo. It provides gorgeous natural light from the floor to ceiling windows and stunning waterfront views of the city. 

Hoboken Terminal {1 Hudson Place, Hoboken}

Go for a city chic photoshoot near the Hoboken Terminal with its cobblestone streets, cluster of taxis, and the famous Erie Lackawanna Terminal in the background. Local influencer @kerifay snaps photos around here often — try to spot the Erie Lackawanna Clock Tower in some of her posts.

Hamilton Park {Jersey City}

Hamilton Park is beautiful all year round as the leaves on the trees change with each season. Springtime will turn the park bright pink as flowers cover the trees, and fall will turn the leaves shades of yellow, orange, and red, adding a vibrant pop of color to any photo you snap.

Bwe kafe {1002 Washington Street, Hoboken}

Bwe is a local, family-run coffee shop with locations in both Hoboken and Jersey City. Whether you are taking photos of your matcha latte or yourself, the boho vibe of the cafe will make for a great photo. 

Columbus Park {825 Adams Street, Hoboken}

Jersey City fashion blogger and influencer, @caitlynwarakomski loves this Hoboken spot for shooting her outfit posts. Located near ShopRite in Hoboken, Columbus Park has basketball and tennis courts {for a sportier photo}, is quiet, and has great lighting for pictures.  

Hudson River Waterfront Walkway {Hudson County}

This one should go without saying. Nothing quite compares to the waterfront views of Manhattan that Hoboken and Jersey City have to offer. Take a stroll along the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway which spans over 18 miles along New Jersey, passing through Weehawken, Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne and beyond. Each municipality that the walkway passes through offers different views and angles of Manhattan, all very Instagrammable. 

Rooftop at Exchange Place {1 Exchange Place, Jersey City}

Hit up Rooftop at Exchange place during golden hour and you have yourself a breathtaking backdrop for a photoshoot. This gorgeous bar with an outdoor terrace overlooks the Hudson River, downtown Manhattan, and even the Statue of Liberty.

Liberty State Park {Jersey City}

Liberty State Park, located in Upper New York Bay in Jersey City, is bordered by water on all three sides with breathtaking views of The Statue of Liberty, so you and Lady Liberty can pose together. The Central Railroad of New Jersey, located in the park, also makes for a great photo background.

Bay Street {Jersey City} 

The solid garages on Bay Street make for excellent photo backdrops to compliment an outfit. Fashion influencer and blogger, @caitlynwarakomski of How Do You Wear That loves taking photos here, and it is always quiet {so you won’t have to move around other people to snap your photo}. The Hudson and Manhattan Railroad Powerhouse on the corner of Greene and Bay Street makes for a great backdrop, as the building features vibrant neon green and blue pops of color juxtaposed on the old, tattered brick.
