Hoboken favorite O’Bagel is temporarily closed after suffering a small kitchen fire on Wednesday, April 29th. Per an Instagram story from the team, no staff members or customers were injured, but the shop needs to undergo a professional cleaning and inspection before it can reopen. The O’Bagel team took to Instagram to share the news on Wednesday, April 29th. The post read:
“Earlier today, there was a small kitchen fire at the O’Bagel in Hoboken. Our team acted immediately and safely, and contained the situation using proper equipment. Most importantly, no guests or team members were injured.”
The post went on to say, “Out of an abundance of caution, the Health Department has temporarily closed us while we complete a full professional cleaning and inspection!! We are working quickly to reopen and will be back serving you as soon as possible.”
Right now, there’s no concrete timeline for reopening. The Hoboken Girl has reached out to O’Bagel and will update this piece as more details unfold.
Earlier this year, Caffe Buon Gusto, another Washington Street business, temporarily closed due to a kitchen fire. Downtown, Tony Boloney’s remains closed from a kitchen fire that broke out in August 2025.
