Commuter Updates: Ferry Resumes Downtown Service + NYC Subways Reopen 24/7

On May 1st, NY Waterway began offering ferry service again from Paulus Hook in Jersey City and Hoboken Terminal to downtown NYC at Brookfield Place/Battery Park City. The Midtown ferries also will have a longer schedule now from Port Imperial and Hoboken 14th Street to Midtown 39th Street Ferry Terminal. The NY PATH trains have resumed 24-hour service.

This announcement came soon before both New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut all announced capacity restrictions to be removed later on in the month. 

“Today, @nygovcuomo, @govnedlamont, and I announced a significant easing of #COVID19 restriction on businesses, venues, and gatherings – effective May 19th,” Governor Murphy announced on his Instagram.

New York City’s subways will resume 24/7, around-the-clock operations on May 17th, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday, May 3rd. “We made significant gains with the MTA during this period of time. Subway trains have never been cleaner than they are now,” the Governor explained.

The weekend hours for the downtown ferry service are every 30 minutes for Hoboken Terminal to Brookfield Place/Battery Park City and every 30 minutes for Paulus Hook to Brookfield Place/Battery Park City ferry service. 

For Midtown ferry service, Friday hours increased and ferries come every 20 minutes from Port Imperial to Midtown and Saturday and Sunday every 30 minutes. For the Hoboken 14th Street Station, Saturday Midtown ferries run from and Sundays every 30 minutes.

NY Waterway is also known for its bus service that takes you to various locations in NYC. 

There will be new weekend shuttles added to Greenwich Village and Chelsea from 10:10AM-9:30PM Saturdays and Sundays from 10:10AM-7:30PM.
