There’s nothing that screams spring/summer more than an afternoon at a local outdoor bar. Luckily for us, there are quite a few bars and breweries that have rooftops and expansive outdoor spaces to enjoy good weather and craft beer – the best of both worlds! Now that the frigid weather has let up, we’re compiling all of the outdoor bars, lounges, rooftops, and breweries in Hoboken and Jersey City that you can visit this spring and summer.

902 Brewing Co. | 101 Pacific Avenue, Jersey City
Only Open if Weather Permits
902 Brewing Co. got its start when Colby Janisch and Don Vogt decided to start brewing their own beer at 902 Washington Street in Hoboken and then grew into the expansive outpost in Jersey City. The brewery has a rooftop and often hosts live musicians.
City Bistro | 56 14th Street, Hoboken
Only Open if Weather Permits
The only bar in Hoboken with a rooftop, City Bistro is owned by John Avoletta who also owns Johnny Pepperoni. The bar and restaurant is HUGE — three levels to be precise — and hosts private events as well as brunch/dinner/nights out on the reg. The rooftop is no exception, it’s spacious but does get packed pretty quickly because it’s such a gem.
Departed Soles Brewing Co. | 150 Bay Street, #2a, Jersey City
When best friends Brian Kulbacki + Chris Ward came up with the idea to start a brewery (after realizing that there was life beyond Natty Light and college parties), they were determined to get something up and running – and they sure did. The brewery works in tandem with many neighborhood businesses to host pretty unique collabs, one of the things that makes this spot so great. It also has one of the most unique outdoor dining setups in town when it is happening.
Pier 13 | 1301 Sinatra Drive
Pier 13 just opened up on May 9th for its 11th season. Right on the water, it has a vast drink menu for visitors to peruse. Ranging from draft beers to cocktails, sangria, frozen drinks, and more, visitors have a vide array of choices to sip on as they please. There will also continue to be a host of food trucks throughout the spring and summer months.
Porta | 135 Newark Avenue, Jersey City

A local fave, Porta’s rooftop access is one of the most sought-after for a night out or to host an event. Be sure to order a Margharita pie next time you’re there.
Pilsener Haus Biergarten | 1422 Grand Street, Hoboken
Only Open if Weather Permits
The largest venue on this list, Pilsener is a force. Craft beer, Austrian-Hungarian, and cool events for locals, this spot is beloved for good reason. There’s an outdoor section that wraps around the exterior of the Biergarten as well as a patio situation.
Rooftop at Exchange Place | 1st Street, Jersey City
Reopening May 12th
For a luxe experience, Rooftop at Exchange is the spot for you. With the PATH and light rail located directly outside of the building, it’s super easy to get to. Think – American fare, craft cocktails, a retractable glass roof, and skyline views.
Six26 | 128 Christopher Columbus Drive, Jersey City
Six26 is the definition of vibrant from the murals to the interior decor and celebrates the local LGBTQ+ community. It becomes a high-energy lounge and has a picture-perfect garden-esque rooftop bar. The weekend drag shows are a must.
Sophia Rooftop | 143 Newark Avenue, Jersey City
Located in Downtown Jersey City, Sophia Rooftop is a private and secure venue with a sophisticated ambiance. Expect fresh, seasonal ingredients, innovative cuisine, and exemplary service.
Surf City | 1 Marin Boulevard
Opening on May 22nd
This seasonal beach bar + restaurant will open its doors on May 22nd. Located directly on the water, Surf City provides great views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. One of its five bars is even devoted only to frozen drinks.
The Hutton | 225 Hutton Street, Jersey City
The Hutton is chic restaurant and bar that specializes in elevated American plates, beer, wine, and cocktails. The patio is heated and spacious – great for large groups.
Zeppelin Hall Biergarten | 88 Liberty View Drive
Zeppelin Hall’s outdoor garden is officially open for spring 2022. This spring, it’s offering Maifest, a springtime Oktoberfest with Bavarian dishes and Maibock beers on the menu. There will also be live music outdoors every week from 2PM – 6PM.
