A rumor that a popular Netflix dating show could be using a Hoboken hotel as the set for an upcoming season has made its way to The Hoboken Girl’s feed. You’ve probably seen reports that Love Is Blind could be using the W Hoboken hotel at 225 River Street along the waterfront as the pods for season 14. But…what’s funny about this piece of internet gossip: it traces right back to The Hoboken Girl in 2020 and it’s an April Fool’s joke. Here’s what we know about the origins of the Love Is Blind rumor + if it’s actually coming to film in Hoboken.
April Fool’s Day 2020
Back in 2020, the HG team was drafting ideas for a fun April Fool’s Day post. Would it be about a celeb calling Hoboken home? Maybe a couple seen out at a local Hoboken favorite? Justin Bieber returning to box in Hoboken?
Meanwhile, Netflix had just dropped season one of Love is Blind. The new reality TV dating show started its journey in Atlanta, Georgia, filming in 2019 and dropping in 2020. With so much buzz surrounding the show, the HG team thought it would be the perfect centerpiece for an April Fool’s prank. We sent out an email to our team, asking if anyone had a good prank to play in 2020, peak pandemic.
Screenshots to prove with timestamps (receipts, proof, timelines…iykyk), sent out March 6th, 2020:

The Hoboken Girl team got to scheming, writing up a story about how the Netflix show wanted to shoot in the New York City area, and deemed the W Hoboken to be a perfect fit to begin shooting in 2021.

All of this was, as many of our loyal followers know, one big April Fool’s prank. There were zero confirmed plans for the Netflix dating show to shoot in Hoboken back in 2020.
But, Could Love Is Blind Shoot In Hoboken?
What our team thought was a fun prank has bubbled back to the surface in 2026. A post from Hoboken Weekend is circling Instagram, saying sources confirmed Love Is Blind will be shooting at the W Hoboken for season 14. The post has one DM as its proof, with the messages claiming the show is looking for professionals in the New York City/New Jersey area and to be on the lookout for vague casting calls in the next few months.

The “source” even claims, “This was the plan back in 2020, and they are circling back.”
Whether coincidence or manifestation, the rumor has certainly caught people’s attention. If the show really does end up filming here, Netflix might owe the HG team at least a small production credit (we kid).
The Hoboken Girl also reached out to Sean Duggan, who runs @hobokenweekend, to ask if the information had been verified. He shared that the claim came from a single DM and that the identity of the sender could not be confirmed. He also stated he did not know that the 2020 rumor had been started by *us* as an April Fool’s joke.
Additionally, we checked casting calls found here posted in 2025 for the upcoming seasons, and while five cities are listed, the closest one to Hoboken is Philadelphia.

Our team also reached out to the W Hoboken hotel to confirm if they’re aware of any Love Is Blind production plans or if they know about this internet rumor. We’ll update this piece once we hear back, but no confirmations thus far.
While we wait to hear if the Love Is Blind pods will be calling Hoboken home, the moral of the story is: check your sources, and make sure to follow @thehobokengirl on Instagram + TikTok to stay in the know with all of the local news, sign up for our weekly newsletter here, and check out our events calendar.
