Family-owned businesses are the heart and soul of our communities. In Hoboken and Jersey City, we are lucky to see so many examples of this. Jersey City mother and daughter duo Ivette R. Poueriet and Paula S. Brudnicki are the team behind one of these creative ventures. Their business, a pop-up paint-and-sip experience, is called Line + Vine. The two women founded their business based on their shared love of art and creating. Keep reading to learn more about Line + Vine and the one-of-a-kind team behind the business.

How it Started

Ivett R. Poueriet and Paula S. Brudnicki have been art lovers their whole lives. When Ivett moved to Hudson County from the Dominican Republic nearly 25 years ago, she didn’t have time to dedicate to art as she raised her family as a single mother. As years passed Ivett soon found herself face to face with the pandemic where she fell ill. A friend had gifted her a set of paints and canvases to pass the time in quarantine. After the supplies sat in Ivett’s home for some time, she decided to pick up the brush again. She began playing with abstract designs simply following what felt right, allowing her intuition to lead her. Before she knew it, she was off seeking more art supplies to reignite her long-lost passion and her daughter took notice.

Daughter Paula inherited Ivett’s talents. From first grade through middle school, Paula attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary School (a Hudson County Blue Ribbon School of Excellence) in Union City and experienced the profound effects of art for herself. Later, Paula attended NJCU where she paired her love of art and teaching. She received an art teaching certification that later would be a pivotal part of her career. Paula began teaching art at PS4 in Jersey City. When the pandemic hit and school closed, Paula became a mother and decided that returning to teaching was not in the cards. Now was her chance to pursue art full-time.

After deciding to sell their pieces at the Hoboken Arts Festival, they noticed the community taking an interest in their work. Soon their work was featured in local galleries, events, and exhibits. You may have seen their work hanging in Gallerie Hudson or the Cool Vines Art Wall.

Next Steps

As time went on Ivett and Paula wanted to find a way to make their passion for art financially sustainable. Knowing that art demands money and time, they knew it was time to expand their talents into something more and share it with the community. With Paula’s art school experience and tech-savvy mind, plus Ivett’s experience, business expertise, and mutual love of art, Line + Vine was born in January of 2023.

The idea of bringing the joy of art to locals was driven by pure love and passion. Ivett and Paula want you to feel the rush of creating together which is why they created this one-of-a-kind mobile paint-and-sip experience. Paula says “One of my favorite things about working with my mom is that we complement one another’s strengths so well”.

Their harmonious balance helps to create unforgettable experiences for all who attend their events. Since then Line + Vine has experienced great success with sold-out events, and partnerships with other local businesses. The duo also hosts private events throughout the area, such as birthday parties or girls’ nights.

What To Expect

Artists of all levels are welcome. From beginners to experts each piece can be executed at any skill level. Ivett and Paula believe that art is for everyone and design their classes to be accessible for all. Whether you consider yourself an expert painter or have never picked up a brush before, there’s room for everyone at a Line + Vine event or workshop.

Once you purchase tickets to a Line + Vine event all that’s left to do is grab your favorite wine and show up. All supplies and logistics will be handled for you.

Line + Vine likes to consider the experience offered to be the “tastefully curated cousin of traditional paint and sip experiences”. Neon sunsets and silhouettes just aren’t their speed. Line + Vine paintings can hang proudly in your home and resemble more of a fine art workshop that anyone can do. No art experience is necessary.

Best of all, Line + Vine’s most desirable attribute is the fact that the experience is fully mobile. Though local to Jersey City, Line + Vine can travel for any event — all the team needs is space and running water to execute the perfect paint-and-sip experience.

Whether it’s for a corporate team-building experience, shower, or beyond, Line + Vine can customize the event by covering both set-up and clean-up. Line + Vine can also provide different art options for customized events. The team always prioritizes the client’s theme and vision and can curate painting options accordingly. After speaking to clients, Line + Vine typically offers about three pieces to choose from that best suit your group or event. For inquiries visit the website here. Line + Vine’s events and workshops can be found on Eventbrite and Instagram. The next event is happening on Sunday, December 17th at Crema in Jersey City — get tickets here.
