Back in July, Paulus Hook restaurant Bistro La Source announced it would be moving to a new locale on Marin Boulevard in Jersey City. A few months later, a new restaurant made its debut in the 85 Morris Street space. Meet Perquin: a new Latin American restaurant with Honduran and Ecuadorian roots that opened in Jersey City earlier this month. Read on for everything we know about the newest addition to the Jersey City restaurant scene, Perquin.
The Road to Opening + About Perquin
The 85 Morris Street storefront in downtown Jersey City is now home to a new Latin American restaurant. The Hoboken Girl received a tip from a reader back in early October, saying signage had gone up for a new spot in the former Bistro La Source space — which has since relocated to 299 Marin Boulevard.

A member of the HG team stopped by the forthcoming restaurant on Wednesday, October 9th — and owner Bryan Giron revealed to us that Perquin looked to open within the next 30 days. He said that the restaurant planned to open on the weekend of November 8th, give or take.
Perquin officially made its debut in Chilltown on the second weekend of November.
The Latin American restaurant serves up Central and South American eats. Some of the dishes customers will find on the menu include Honduran street food; Ceviche Jipijapa (peanut, avocado, radish, cucumber + cancha); Pato Enchilado (duck confit, chipotle, + roasted corn); and Salchipapa (chorizo, Waygu hot dogs, nduja, aji Verde, + French fries), among other options. For a sweet treat, the restaurant also serves hibiscus ice pops and tahini chocolate chip cookies.
Perquin also serves a variety of cocktails, as well as margaritas, mojitos, daiquiris, red + white sangria, wine, and coquito.
Bryan is Honduran and Perquin’s kitchen manager is Honduran and Ecuadorian, so the menu items are influenced by the two cultures and also include other Latin American options.
The team first announced the new restaurant in early October. Perquin provided a few updates on the space ahead of the opening on its Instagram, @perquinjc.
