Will Fireworks be Visible from Hoboken on July 4th?

The Retreat Cannabis

Hobokenites are used to having the best seat in the proverbial house with our spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline. That view is only enhanced by the July 4th fireworks, which are a yearly tradition. This year, there will be fireworks courtesy of Macy’s and the Sail4th 250 Parade of Sail. But, will fireworks be visible from Hoboken on July 4th? Read on for more about where to view the fireworks in Hoboken for the 4th of July 2026 on the NYC skyline.

Viewing Spots in Hoboken

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks, and the display is expected to be its biggest yet. According to a statement from Macy’s on May 15th, the display “will expand to both the lower East River in the Seaport District, the lower Hudson River in collaboration with Jersey City, and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, creating a shared experience that connects more communities than ever.”

Per the Macy’s website, there will be two fireworks barges in the Hudson River and four in the East River. While officially the best viewing spots listed are all in Jersey City, it’s fair to think that the pyrotechnics will be visible in Hoboken, too.

Some local venues will be hosting fireworks viewing parties.

The family-friendly waterfront event will feature a full day of programming, including live music, local vendors, food, drinks, and views of the Hudson River. The Hoboken Business Alliance is the primary funder of the festival and has proudly supported the event in past years, helping bring the large-scale community celebration to life for residents and visitors alike.

This family-friendly event on Pier 13 will begin at 12PM for a full day of festivities. Kids aged 12 and under get in for free. There will be live music, a DJ, food trucks, fireworks, and more. Families and groups can reserve a table for the event by contacting Pier 13 directly.

Good to Know

In advance of the festivities, the City of Hoboken has announced several road closures and areas completely closed to the public to support emergency operations during the celebration. Spectators are strongly urged to use public transit or to reserve parking spaces in advance.

Hoboken spokeswoman Marilyn Baer points to the many weekend events, in addition to the July Fourth fireworks, as the reason for the road closures. “This weekend includes FIFA World Cup festivities, Sail 250 parades of Class A and Class B ships, the International Naval Review, the International Aerial Review, the Pier A block party, and the Jersey City Fireworks all on the Hudson River. Over the last several years, those who chose to drive to and from Hoboken on the 4th of July caused significant gridlock, making it very difficult for emergency operations and slowing emergency response,” she said via a statement. “The City, HPD, and OEM strongly encourage all visitors to use public transit if coming to Hoboken to help mitigate traffic and maintain public safety.”

So, while we can’t get a definitive answer on whether the fireworks will be visible from Hoboken, the prevailing sentiment is that people will still be coming to town expecting to see something along the skyline.
