And whether you’re attending one or are planning one of your own, it can’t hurt to get a little inspiration from other couples in the area. Enter Kimberley {aka Kim + the mastermind behind The Cuddly Cottage and WE Entrepreneurs in Hoboken} and Tom, a local couple who held their wedding at the W in Hoboken. How They Met
Kim and Tom met while working at the same securities firm in New York. They made small talk a few times, which Tom really enjoyed so he kept looking for reasons to chat. He asked her out after a few weeks, and things took off from there. They dated in secret for a few months before we both left the company and have been together since. This November will mark their three-year anniversary.

As for their proposal story, Kim is a big fan of the show Friends, and really loved the engagement scene with Monica and Chandler, so Tom tried to borrow elements from it. He set up candles all around the apartment, wrote a sweet letter, and attached the engagement ring to their dog Waffles’ collar. When she came home from work, Tom met her at the door while holding their dog and handed her the letter. As she finished reading, he passed her the pup and got down on one knee. It took her a moment to see the ring, but then her face lit up and the rest is history. The pair’s engagement lasted just over a year before their big day.
Making Hoboken Home
Although Kim had been living in Hoboken for two years, her groom moved to the Mile Square last March. The two have been living uptown ever since!
The Ceremony
The bride wore a stunningly unique off-the-shoulder red dress and off-white veil for the big day — May 4th, 2019 {miiight they be Star Wars fans?}. The intimate ceremony housed 22 guests — a morning ceremony and lunch reception at the W, with a few hours in between for people to relax and check out Hoboken before taking them to their favorite Korean BBQ spot in NYC. And of course, the night ended with karaoke.
The couple tried to make the entire day reflect their interests as a couple, so they had little things in their wedding like Game of Thrones-themed vows {curated by Tom}, a ton of disposable cameras to capture the day from everyone’s perspective, two Polaroid cameras to capture unique shots, bloody Mary pitchers, oysters, and more. The two wanted everyone in attendance to experience the things Tom and Kim enjoyed throughout the day — including their pups.
Reflecting on the day, Kim’s favorite moments included walking down the aisles, saying vows, and ending the night with some savory Korean barbecue and karaoke.
As for Tom, it was the moment he first saw Kim walking down the aisle. “She was beautiful and everything became ‘real’ in that moment,” he said.

Advice for Other Couples
Kim’s biggest tip is to go through any contract multiples times and take note on services that you do not need or you know you or your guests won’t enjoy and see if you can switch some things out or remove some services to get a lower quote.
For Tom, he suggests using as many small businesses as you can. The duo used a mix of big and small vendors, and the difference was clear — he found that the small vendors cared far more about them and their guests. Kim can attest to that, as she says that what made their wedding unique was the fact that they used local vendors and that everything was very intimate.
