Get ready for more construction in Hoboken. Starting this April, 50 blocks of roadways in Hoboken will be repaved, with construction lasting well into June. The goals are to fix roads after major infrastructure work, upgrade crosswalks and other safety features, and improve accessibility for Hoboken locals and visitors. Here’s what to know about the repaving schedule and what streets will be closed in Hoboken.
About The Spring Repaving Project
Over two miles of roadways will be milled and repaved in Hoboken this spring and possibly summer. It adds up to about 50 blocks of streets in Hoboken getting a facelift.
Several roads in Hoboken were part of underground infrastructure improvement projects to upgrade drinking water mains, pressure valves, gas mains, and increase storm sewer capacity to reduce flooding. The City of Hoboken is working in partnership with PSE&G and North Hudson Sewerage Authority to restore these roadways following that work.

The City of Hoboken also plans to implement additional Vision Zero safety improvements during this time, such as high-visibility striping to refresh crosswalks and other roadway markings. The majority of these projects are funded through grants and utility capital projects.
“We know how frustrating it can be to drive around the city this time of year, especially after a tough winter and several construction projects that have greatly improved what’s beneath the surface, but left roads in rough condition,” said Mayor Emily Jabbour in a statement online. “These paving projects will repair many of our roadways, not only improving driving conditions, but also incorporating additional safety upgrades that support our Vision Zero goals and improve accessibility.”
What Streets Will Be Repaved?
The following streets are slated to be restored, starting in April and continuing through June. Sinatra Drive South, between First and Fourth Streets, and Hudson Place are slated to be paved later this year.
