Another adorable Hoboken proposal story coming atcha — but this one is a bit different from the rest. And by that, we mean renting out the entire back patio of Bin 14 to pop the question. Colleen and Tony got engaged on June 1st, 2018 at the popular Mile Square wine bar and we just can’t help but love this story {The Office fans, you’ll love it too}. Read on for bride-to-be Colleen’s take on the night, how HobokenGirl.com inspired the proposal, plus more on the couple:

The Proposal, according to Colleen:

Tony asked me to take off of work on Friday, June 1st so we could go furniture shopping for our new place. I didn’t think anything of it. We went shopping all day then he said we had dinner reservations at Bin 14 at 6. When I met him for dinner, he was very dressed up (long sleeve dress shirt and khakis–it was 90+ degrees that day lol) so I was a little skeptical, but I was so tired from furniture shopping that I just let it go. We sat in the back patio and enjoyed drinks and dinner. We were the only ones back there, and I later found out that Tony rented out the space for 2 hours.

After dinner, the waiter brought out 2 wine glasses that were engraved with quotes from our favorite TV show, The Office. They said, “You are the Pam to my Jim” and “You are the Jim to my Pam.” We always joke that we are the characters Pam and Jim. The waiter also had a wrapped present, which ended up being a photo book of all of our memories over the years. The last page was a heartfelt note from Tony and the last line read, “and I have one more question for you…” I look up and Tony is on one knee with the ring, and his friend is photographing the whole thing! It was amazing and I was so overwhelmed with love, joy, and surprise.

We went to the waterfront after dinner to take pictures in front of the Freedom Tower and Empire State Building. The next day, Tony brought me to my parent’s house, where all of our family and friends were waiting to surprise me. My sister and brother-in-law flew up from South Carolina, Tony’s parents drove down from Connecticut, and friends traveled to be with us. It was truly magical.

Favorite Hoboken date-night spot?
We really love having dinner at Zack’s followed by drinks at 10th and Willow. If the weather is nice, you can find us at Pier 13 for happy hour as well.
Was the proposal a total surprise?
Yes, the actual day was a total surprise! We had talked about getting engaged and I knew it was going to happen this year sometime, but I had no idea about June 1st and did not expect it that day.

Any wedding plans yet?

We are getting married on Saturday, August 3rd, 2019 at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park, NJ. They are redoing their ballroom and it looks like it’s going to be amazing!

Fun fact: Since Colleen is a fan of Hoboken Girl, Tony used our article, 5 Unique Indoor Proposal Spots in Hoboken, for inspiration on where to propose, and he took the Bin 14 backyard recommendation — we are honored!
