This week’s local Hoboken + Jersey City events guide has everyone covered with Juneteenth events, pilates in the park, movies on the pier, and more. Agita: Stand-Up Comedy Showcase in Hoboken

Agita (Ah-Jeh-Da) is a local comedy showcase featuring several comics seen on TV + social media produced by The Medigans — a brand that aims to grow the stand-up comedy community within Hoboken for both performers and consumers. On Sunday, June 26th, the comedy showcase will take place at Willie McBride’s, located at 616 Grand Street in Hoboken from 6:30PM-8:45PM and will feature Bradley Marco from New York Comedy Festival’s Comics to Watch, Osei Caleb from BET’s ComicView, John Franklin from Netflix’s The Circle, Jared Waters who opened for the late Don Rickles, Natalie Cuomo from Sirius XM, and Lucas Connolly who competed in contests produced by NBC, Comedy Central, and the National Lampoon. Tickets for the event must be purchased in advance online and will not be available at the door. Plus, Hoboken Girl readers can receive 20% off tickets with the code ‘HOBOKENGIRL’ until Sunday, June 19th.

The Laugh Tour at Dorrian’s Red Hand

Dorrian’s Red Hand located at 555 Washington Boulevard in Jersey City is hosting two comedy shows on Saturday, June 18th at 6:30PM and 8:30PM. The Laugh Tour is hosted by comedian Rich Kiamco and will feature Rob Christensen from Comedy Central, Michelle Slonim from The Nick Cannon Show, Allan Fuks from Sirius XM, and Marla Schultz from Comics Unleashed. Show tickets purchased online in-advance of the show are $15 and are $20 day of and at the door with a 2 item minimum per person. Additional shows with other comedians will take place the rest of the year. Please note, doors to exterior are ajar for ventilation with fireplace on inside (these indoor comedy events still require proof of vaccination with ID) Venue and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

The Liberty Humane Society is an open admission shelter contracted by Jersey City, Hoboken, + Bayonne that takes in strays day or night, medically assesses the animals, gives them vaccinations + microchips, spays or neuters them, + gets them socially prepared for lifelong adoptions. True Mentors | Hoboken 

True Mentors is Hoboken’s only one-to-one mentor program. The program matches children ages 7-17 with trained mentors. Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors and can sign up to be trained. Volunteers must be 18 years or older + must make at least a 1-year commitment to their mentee for a minimum of 8 hours per month. Learn more here.
