Hudson Theatre Ensemble presents John Cariani’s Almost, Maine, an enchanting collection of vignettes about ordinary people in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Poignant, funny, and smart, Almost, Maine is wonderfully whimsical as well as down-to- earth. This is a play to love— for its quirkiness and its unabashed romantic spirit. The 7th-annual Concert to Benefit Global Fund for Women will once again be held at Maxwell’s this Saturday. The show will feature performances by Rob Nicholas Band, clueLess, Sylvana Joyce & The Moment, and The Back Room Deal. Hosted by Stephen Bailey, organized by Nelson Pla and presented by Clueless Events, the GFW Benefit Concerts continue to bring awareness to — and raise money for — the work of Global Fund for Women. “Global Fund for Women is an international network committed to a world of equality and social justice. Founded in 1987, this nonprofit organization defends women’s rights by making grants to support women’s groups. They promote the economic security, health, safety, education and leadership of women and girls worldwide.” Tickets are $10 and proceeds benefit the Global Fund for Women. Holocaust Remembrance Day in Jersey City: Sunday, April 12th at 3:00PM
This Sunday Jersey City’s Congregation B’nai Jacob located at 176 West Side Ave, will hold the 50th annual observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Yom Ha’Shoah. Rabbi’s from three different religious centers will co-officiate the event. The event will also feature guest speaker and Holocaust survivor, Ann Monka who was just ten years old when her hometown in Poland was invaded by the Russians.
