The Hoboken Shelter | 300 Bloomfield Street, Hoboken
The Hoboken Shelter aims to provide meals and shelter to the homeless. The charity offers a roof for 50 people nightly, serves 500 meals daily, and hosts over 1,000 showers weekly. It also provides resources like workshops and emergency homelessness prevention grants and offers long-term housing solutions. It costs only $2 to serve a meal to someone in need, and The Hoboken Shelter is looking for food, supplies, and toiletries (a list of which can be found on the website) to help with the mission. Donations are accepted from 9AM-9PM daily at the shelter or welcome donations from their Amazon wishlist. You can also volunteer your time by helping with the nightly soup kitchen, helping with a workshop, or preparing and wrapping sandwiches.
Hoboken Historical Museum | 1301 Hudson Street, Hoboken
Free for children, the museum is a 501c3 nonprofit organization showcasing Hoboken’s history, diverse culture, architecture, and landmarks with exhibits, guest speakers, and educational programming in the former Bethlehem Steel Machine Shop. Make a donation to help preserve Hoboken’s history and share it with generations to come.

Obtaining financial independence after experiencing hardship is no easy task. Dress for Success, which is a national organization, is committed to helping women do this every day by providing the tools necessary to succeed. Part of the Dress for Success toolkit is appropriate, professional attire as this is an essential part of landing a job and feeling confident—especially during the interview process. Acceptable items to donate include blouses, skirts, slacks, blazers, dresses, unopened cosmetics, jewelry, scarves, shoes, and work-appropriate handbags. Many women who benefit from these donations often head straight to an interview, so please be sure all donations are dry-cleaned and are either new or gently used—no stains, missing zippers/buttons, or tears.
