The beer director at Sparrow Wine & Liquor Co., Lazaro Luis, says the Gueuzerie Tilquin is “a great gift for beer geeks and natural wine lovers alike.” This particular beer is a Lambic beer and can be aged up to ten years. Gueuzerie Tilquin opened in 2009 and is still the only gueuze blendery in Wallonia, Belgium. Freshly brewed wort is purchased from different producers in the region including Pajottenland and Brussels and pumped into oak barrels for one to three years of fermentation. Eventually, the Lambic is blended, bottled, and rested a further six months to re-ferment in the bottle. The result is Gueuze Tilquin à l’ancienne, which has 7.0% ABV.
