But there’s another internet trend categorized by its bright green color palette. All summer, internet foodies have been taken by the viral “Dubai Chocolate Bar,” searching and scouring their respective cities for these knafeh chocolate bars filled with unique pistachio cream. What is the “Dubai Chocolate Bar?”
Back in 2023, TikTok influencer Maria Vehera went viral for an ASMR-style video eating a chocolate bar in her car. Aside from the expected fanfare over the satisfying sounds (“The CRUNCH!!” reads a comment under the post), users were stunned by the bar’s bright green filling and side dip. “I thought that was guacamole,” one user commented. “Is it chocolate with pistachio filling?” another asked.

The dessert, it turns out, is from a Dubai-based chocolate shop called Fix Dessert Chocolatier. Listed on the menu as “Can’t Get Knafeh of It,” the milk chocolate bar is inspired by traditional Middle Eastern knafeh, filled with pistachio and tahini paste.
Since Maria’s initial video (which has garnered over 4.8 million likes), the delicacy has taken on a life of its own under the now-viral moniker, “The Dubai Chocolate Bar.” According to CNN, daily orders at Fix Dessert Chocolatier “went from single digits to 500.” Despite its origins in Dubai, copycats have popped up throughout the U.S., each one more gooey and crunchy than the next. TikTokers, of course, quickly followed suit, hunting down nearby iterations and recording their own ASMR-style, taste-testing videos.
Hoboken’s Version
Last week, Hoboken foodie Kate Norkeliunas (a.k.a. Big Daddy) endeavored to locate the celebrity confection here in Hoboken. “I think about that Dubai chocolate bar every single day,” she begins her TikTok video. “I think about it every day, I crave it every day, and I’m gonna find it today.”

Finding it proved easier than expected. The Nuts Factory, an old-school candy shop chain, actually launched its own version of the Dubai chocolate bar in July and had some in stock at its Hoboken location. Fame comes at a pretty high price: the bar rang up at $20.25, to which Kate shared she was “actually shocked.” Still, the Nuts Factory version proved a worthy dupe, complete with a milk chocolate exterior, gooey green filling, and the signature crunch to boot.

Here's how it works: visit any participating restaurant, ask for a Soup Stroll Sample, receive a free four-ounce sample of the featured soup, stroll to the next contributing spot, and repeat.
