Construction on Lackawanna Coffee’s newest outpost was completed in February 2023. The space was designed to accentuate the space’s double-height ceilings and lofty vibes. Several architectural elements can be seen throughout the café. When guests step foot into Lackawanna, some immediately noticeable elements include the four 22-foot columns framing the shop, blocks of color, and eye-catching shapes, which are just some of the aspects of the thoughtfully designed space. These details come together to create a community-based environment for guests to enjoy.

Other elements of this space include an oversized peach-colored table at the center of the space and a sky-blue-colored counter. For the café’s kitchen space, stainless steel worktops, wood display shelves, and deep red millwork have been crafted for all of the café’s preparations. Refrigerated drinks are seen inside a crafted panel for a selection of grab-and-go drinks. Floor-to-ceiling, 23-foot-tall windows are another detail the architects chose for the space, allowing for sunlight to come in and letting guests view the exterior of the Jersey City neighborhood.

More Than a Café

The two architecture firms behind Lackawanna’s new location used the owner’s vision to make it more than just a café. Besides socializing, people-watching, and working, among other activities, this café has a gallery on its mezzanine level. Art and print exhibitions will be hosted with the design of this new gallery feature. At Lackawanna’s ground level, dinners and other celebrations can be hosted with the use of the centerpiece oversized café table.
