Person the Year: Caroline Haines of For Cups Sake
Caroline Haines is a local Hoboken mom, owner of baking company For Cups Sakes, and is a legend around Hoboken for her custom cookie art. This year, she’s attempting to build the largest gingerbread village based on the city of Hoboken. Currently, a man by the name of Jon Lovich holds the Guinness World Record for the largest gingerbread village. This record was set in January 2017 after Jon completed a village of 1,251 structures. Her plan is in motion as she builds Hoboken businesses, landmarks, parks, and homes. She’s replicating each business or building in cookie form in Hoboken, which totals over 1700 buildings. In creating this village, she’ll not only be breaking a Guinness Book World Record if completed, but she’s also raising money and awareness for local non-profits including the Hoboken Shelter, Hoboken Food Pantry, and Hoboken Public Education Foundation with her project. She is our Hoboken 2021 Person of the Year.
