While many of the routines that come with the 9-to-5 have changed, there’s one that hasn’t, and that’s happy hour. This post-work time to catch up with friends and coworkers is a great way to wind down from the day and enjoy some discounted beverages and snacks. We’ve rounded up the best happy hours in Hoboken and Jersey City according to locals, so read on to plan the next after-work outing, whatever time that may be.

This is one of the happiest hours in town. Belo Bar,  a relatively new spot in downtown Hoboken,  hosts a happy hour daily (that’s right, we said every day). On Monday through Sunday, catch Belo Bar’s happy hour from 4PM – 7PM. There are countless fun cocktails and food items on the happy hour menu.

This uptown hidden gem always serves up delicious cocktails and food. For happy hour, Carpe Diem has a great $2 off draft beers special from 4PM – 8PM on most weeknights, and half-priced bottles of wine on Thursdays. Make sure to check out this cozy spot – the fireplace in the dining room is perfect for winter.

Monday might be a bit of a dark horse choice for a happy hour slot but City Bistro has a different approach. This popular uptown spot has half-priced almost everything on the menu, including food. Sign us up for a rooftop happy hour to start the week – and BYOB (blanket, that is!)

With a different special daily, Finnegan’s is an ideal spot for post-work drinks and catching up with friends. Some of the specials include Wing Night on Tuesdays – with $.50 wings and $3 select beers, draft night on Wednesdays – where any draft is $5, and more. BONUS: Finnegan’s has live music on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays – plus Sunday is open mic night. 

Grand Vin | 500 Grand Street

With a happy hour on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5PM – 7PM, Grand Vin is one of the most popular after-work drink recommendations among our Hoboken Girl readers. The Grand Street’s spot $12 Wine Flight Tuesdays are a must-try in town. Grand Vin recently debuted seasonal cocktails, plus a new ‘Wine Down Wednesday’ tradition with live music.

Green Rock | 70 Hudson Street

This is the ultimate spot for weeknight football, basketball, or any other televised sporting events. ICYMI,  Green Rock in Hoboken has domestic mugs for just $1 dollar on Tuesdays through Fridays from 5PM – 8PM. It’s a steal, as are some of the other specials. These include Taco Tuesday (half-priced tacos and $5 Casamigos margaritas), and Karaoke Night on Thursdays (all drinks are half-priced).

Take a half-day, and enjoy half-priced wine by the glass on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 11AM – 4PM at La Isla’s uptown location. With daily food specials, this is a great spot to meet for an early happy hour or a working lunch.

The Cuban | 333 Washington Street

Head to this Hoboken hotspot from 3PM to 6PM on Monday through Friday. On the happy hour menu, patrons find discounted signature cocktails, including The Cuban’s Mojitos and Avenida Washingtons.

From Tequila/Taco Tuesday to Wine Wednesdays, and more, The Madison is a go-to uptown spot for an evening out. Happy hour is every weekday at The Madison from 4PM – 8PM, with deals on beer, wine/sangria, and well drinks/margaritas. The seasonal cocktails are not to be missed. 

McSwiggan’s | 110 1st Street

Trivia Tuesday nights at McSwiggan’s are a go-to for some post-work drinks. With $3.50 Miller Lite bottles, $4 glasses of Pinot Grigio, and $15 buckets of Coors Light, patrons can test their knowledge from 8:30PM – 10PM at this downtown spot. This gem of a cocktail/seafood bar has a happy hour menu every day, including the weekends.  Sundays through Wednesdays guests can expect 50% off oysters and sparkling wine. On Thursdays, check out the $15 lobster rolls and half-off beer deal. And on Fridays and Saturdays, Stingray Lounge offers $9 house cocktails.
