Tina Rivera, owner and “baking mama” herself, is a stellar baker and that shows in her sweet treats. Cakes, cupcakes, and mini cupcakes are just some of the items available. Orders must be placed at least five days in advance via email.

Carlo’s Bakery | 95 Washington Street

Carlo's Bakery 

Biscotti, cookies, cannolis, pies, wedding cakes, and cupcakes are just some of the sweets patrons can find at this Hoboken staple. Stop in for some Italian pastries or order a specialty cake — and remember, with a Hoboken ID, patrons can skip the line of tourists. All of the diner favorites from Malibu are available for order through the restaurant’s catering service. And yes, that includes all, and we mean all, of the cakes, cheesecakes, and pies on the Malibu menu. This Hoboken classic has been around since the 1940’s so the team knows a thing or two about good desserts.

Old German Bakery | 322 Washington Street

“Just like Oma used to bake” is the tagline of this classic Hoboken spot. Patrons don’t have to be German to feel the love baked into each sweet treat. Cakes, tarts, strudels, and other goodies are all available here. Pre-order is available for some items, whole cakes, or large quantities, and there are many pre-made items available in the store each day Several of the cakes are available by the slice, which could make for a fun mix-and-match activity. There are several vegan and gluten-free options here, so all of the guests can enjoy the items. 

Sweet | 343 Garden Street

Nestled on the quiet corner of 4th and Garden, Sweet is a Hoboken staple that makes many delectable treats, including brownies, cookies, cupcakes, and cakes. In addition to custom cakes, the team at Sweet can do custom colors of frosting, for an ultra-personal touch. Jersey City

Busy Bee Organics | 451 Palisade Avenue and 175 2nd Street

While most of us know Busy Bee Organics for its healthy meal choices and creative uses of seasonal ingredients, the shop has an entire suite of cakes and other sweet treats, and they are all allergy- and dietary-restriction friendly. Gluten-free, soy-free, nut-free, and vegan options are all on offer here.

Cafe Madelaine | 34 Coles Street

The Chocolate Royale at Cafe Madelaine

Mais oui, any good celebration must have a cake. This charming French bakery has an incredible variety of cakes and other goodies. From light and airy fruit-focused treats to the most decadent chocolate choice, each item here is a work of art. The desserts are so beautiful and picture-perfect, they’re *almost* too pretty to eat.

Cocoa Bakery | 275 Grand Street and 475 Central Avenue

Cocoa Bakery has cake consultants available to help plan the perfect sweet treat for the event. Custom cakes require a minimum of one week’s notice. The cake consultants will get in touch with the customer to walk through the choices and make sure everything is just right. In the shop, patrons will find other treats including cupcakes, cookies, bars, and cake truffles. Yes – cake truffles.

Dulce de Leche Bakery | 376 Central Avenue

This cozy cafe offers custom and semi-custom cakes in addition to its cafe menu. A fully custom cake requires a minimum of four weeks’ notice and a semi-custom cake requires less notice, but the orders are taken on a first-come-first-serve basis based on the bakery’s availability.  Orders require a 30% deposit to get started and the final payment is due four days before the event.  There are several ready-made options available in the store, so even if it’s a last-minute celebration, there will be something to enjoy.

Jam Cakery Events | 326 5th Street

We love a treat that everyone can enjoy, and Downtown Jersey City’s Jam Cakery Events is our-go to for keeping even the most restrictive dietary needs in mind and making everything taste delicious. From sugar-free, gluten-free, vegan, to raw, there is an option for everyone. Jam Cakery offers cakes, cupcakes, donuts, cookies, and pies in addition to other treats. And something all the guests will remember is the Cupcake Bouquet.

Milk Sugar Love | 19 McWilliams Place and 394 Palisades Avenue

Ditch the store-bought ice cream cake and wow guests with a Milk Sugar Love creation. From the creative ice cream flavors to the many ways they can be served, this is definitely not the average order. Ice cream cakes for as few as two guests on up are available, as are ice cream sandwiches made with house-made cookies and of course, Milk Sugar Love’s premium ice cream in the middle.

Monteleone’s Bakery | 741 Newark Avenue

Monteleone’s long-time reign in Journal Square, since 1946, means that the bakery’s treats have been present at celebrations for decades. Carry on the tradition by picking up Italian pastries or classic cakes. Preorders are taken by phone or in-person only, and the bakery is cash-only. There are always goodies available in-store for the last-minute celebration.

Sugartown Bakery Café | 437 Jersey Avenue

Sugartown Bakery Café 

This bakery and cafe, right around the corner from Van Vorst Park, has pretty much anything a person could want to make the celebration just right. Hudson Cakery | 1816 Willow Avenue, Weehawken

This quaint shop {located right at the bottom of the Willow Avenue bridge technically in Weehawken} makes any and all sweets you might need for your occasion. From decorated cake pops to custom cookies, to cupcakes, macarons, and cakes, everything you need is here. Gluten-free and eggless cupcakes are available as well as gluten-free macaroons. Custom cakes can be simple or decorated however you’d like. Pricing depends on size, the number of tiers, and type of design.

If you need something special, bring in a picture of the cake you want from Pinterest and they will get to work. If you need something simple with some writing (like this mouth-watering chocolate-mousse cake pictured above), pick one out from the case and they will write on it.
