Gluten-Free Bakery Annie + Em’s Closes Its Hoboken Store

The Retreat Cannabis

Back in February 2022, Annie + Em’s Bakeshop opened in the former Tutta Pesca space at 155 Third Street in Hoboken. Founded by two Hoboken residents and Garden State born-and-raised sisters, the spot served up every kind of bakery item you can think of — all completely gluten-free. In April, Annie + Em’s announced the upcoming closure of its Hoboken store — effective May 10th, 2025 — while the brand figures out next steps. Read on for more about the closure and what we’ll miss about Annie + Em’s Bakeshop in Hoboken, New Jersey.

“After over three years at our home on Third Street our lil’ bakeshop has, unfortunately, outgrown our space. As a result, the team has made the decision to take a step back & figure out what is the next best move for Annie & Em’s. This means that our last day fulfilling orders out of our current location will be on Saturday, May 10th, 2025.

ALL orders scheduled for pickup prior to/on May 10th WILL be fulfilled as scheduled! At this time, we will not be accepting any orders for pickup after this date.

As many of you know, Annie & Em’s has always been a small, family-run business — we are all so grateful to, and thankful for, our amazing customers, retail partners, the Hoboken community and everyone we have met along the way since we started Annie & Em’s in 2018.

While we are certainly sad to be leaving our space on Third Street, we are so excited for what the future may bring. We will, of course, post any and all business updates here on Instagram and on our website.

Stay tuned & as always, keep it sweet!”

About Annie + Em’s

Annie + Em’s was first introduced to the Hoboken bakery scene on October 19th, 2020, when owners and sister duo Krista and Emma shared the news that they were opening a bakeshop in the former Tutta Pesca location on 3rd Street in Hoboken. It officially opened on February 22nd, 2022.

The Hoboken residents previously shared that the Mile Square has a special place in both of their hearts, and could not wait to introduce Annie + Em’s to the community of local businesses here. Krista and Emma grew up in New Jersey, and have always had a soft spot for sweets.

“We started Annie & Em’s Bakeshop in 2018 with a serious sweet tooth and a big dream, not knowing what in the world we were getting into,” the sisters previously shared on Instagram. “We just knew we loved our signature gluten-free sweet treats and wanted, more than anything, to be able to share them with the world! From our first Farmers’ market in Asbury Park to today, it has been nothing short of an amazing adventure.”

The brand’s mission is to provide premium gluten-free creations. In addition to always being gluten-free, the company also has a selection of vegan items. From cookies to cupcakes to brownies to donuts to shortbread, Annie + Em’s Bakeshop serves up an array of sweets. The signature products and baked goods are on sale at farmers’ and makers’ markets throughout New Jersey, available for custom order, and can be baked-to-order for larger celebrations and special events.
