Woof! Hello there! My name is Brownie, and I am an adult pittie / lab mix. I am a pretty gal with fur the color of iced coffee. Luckily, my personality is just as sweet. :-)

I recently arrived at the shelter as a stray doggie, and boy was I nervous! I was fearful when people approached my cage, and it was so hard for me to relax and feel at ease. What progress I have made already! Now I lay nicely in my crate in the kennel, I get wiggly when I see my favorite people, and I am silly, sweet, and at ease. Yay me!

I have walked far into our neighboring park, passing children, bikers, joggers, and other doggies with no problems at all. I just love to be out and about! Although I like to be ahead of my handler, I stroll along nicely and am told that I’m a real pleasure to walk. One of my human friends once tried to jog with me … she found out that I skip instead! Hee!

As I mentioned, I was very unsettled initially at the shelter, but I still did well on my behavior evaluation. More and more of my sunny personality has emerged over time. I bet once I go home — with YOU! — I will continue to blossom. I guess I just needed a little love and patience to get me started on my way. Boy, I am going to be one special gal in my home. I just know it!

I’m not super playful — I don’t really get toys! — but I do enjoy my long walks and being social and outdoors I am easygoing and have a mellow nature, but I have a spunky side as well. (You should see me roll in the grass; it makes all my human friends crack up!) I think I could adapt to just about any type of household, including one with older children.

I am not quite sure how I feel about other doggies just yet. As I have become more relaxed, I seem much more at ease around them. I will keep working on this!
