What’s the Situation?

A post first came to light on LinkedIn by Bobby Antonicello Jr., a local Commercial Real Estate Broker/Advisor, who detailed the deal he brokered for the retail chain to open in Hoboken. It was shared by local Instagram account @hobokengossip shortly thereafter.

“It was great working with Hilary Sievers and her team from JLL to bring Abercrombie & Fitch Co. to Washington Street in Hoboken! A&F will occupy the entire ground floor of the newly constructed Hoboken House on the corner of 3rd and Washington,” he shared on his LinkedIn page.

We spoke directly with Bobby Antonicello Jr. of Grid Real Estate, who shared limited additional details on the new 5,000-square-foot space for Abercrombie space. “The developer had a vision for the retail space at the old Arthur’s, and wanted something that would be great and new for Hoboken and the surrounding businesses of Washington Street,” Bobby shared exclusively with The Hoboken Girl.

Is Arthur’s Coming Back?

While the rumblings shared with The Hoboken Girl pointed to Arthur’s returning after 18 months of construction, instead, Abercrombie will be coming to the space in its place.

The Hoboken House is the new name for 235-237 Washington Street, where Arthur’s was formerly located. Known for its “famous” garlic bread — which, according to plans, is now available for retail leasing space. In an online PDF, Grid Real Estate shared availability for leasing retail space, “Hoboken House is a state-of-the-art 5-story, 18 unit residential development on Hoboken’s busy Washington Street with 4,870 square feet of ground floor retail with 3 sides of expansive frontage and operational basement space. Situated on a high exposure signalized corner, this space sits directly across from McDonald’s, Nike and Bluemercury and is among many national tenants within a 1 block radius that consists of Starbucks, Chipotle, Lululemon, Sephora,” the advert reads.

Abercrombie & Fitch will be coming to the ground-level location at the corner, where Arthur’s Tavern used to reside, according to Bobby, who helped broker the deal.

The owners of Arthur’s, also owners of the building, Wanda and Dave Jacey, have been contacted but have not responded to requests for comment as of the time of publish date. We will update the story with any additional comments.
