It’s a new year and what better way to ring in the festivities than to see a live performance this month from a talented artist at one of your local Hudson County venues. We know the holidays are over and you might be in a slump that only leftover desserts can fix, but never fear. These drink deals and entertaining performances will help you survive January 2019. Read on for a list of live music events happening in Hoboken and Jersey City throughout the month:

FM Restaurant, Bar, and Lounge {340 Third Street, Jersey City}

If you like authentic, Jersey City-style live music, FM is the place for you. The venue hosts comedy nights, open mic Mondays, burlesque shows, trivia competitions, and of course, live music. You can even have a 70’s-style TV dinner and check out art by Robert Piersanti.

January 3rd — New Year, New You with Shred Flintstone, TRÜ, Dog Date, and Erotica at 8 PM

January 11th – Cosmic Jerry Band at 8 PM

Hobbs Inc

Check out this Jerry Garcia cover band at FM for their Jersey City debut. The NJ-based quartet is known to improvise and give each performance their all. They’ve shared the stage with musicians like the Talking Heads, Phil Lesh & Friends, and even the Jerry Garcia Band themselves. See more information here.

January 25th — Crush On You with The NeitherNors, Quiz Show, The Schwam, & Lily Vakili Band at 9 PM

Gear up for Valentine’s Day at FM’s Crush On You concert with all four of these talented artists. The NeitherNors, a JC favorite, will team up with Quiz Show, The Schwam, & Lily Vakili Band for a night of mesmerizing guitar performances and infectious energy. See more information here.

January 19th — Winter Jubilee at the Hoboken Elks Lodge 74 {1005 Washington Street, Hoboken}

Come out to the annual Hoboken Winter Jubilee featuring live music and an Italian dinner buffet from 4 to 9 PM. Performances include DJ Tasty Cakes, Bill Schultze, rock band Davey & the Trainwreck, and classic country band the Wailing Denims. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. All the proceeds for the event will benefit Special Needs Children. See more information here.

Willie McBride’s {616 Grand Street Hoboken, NJ}

Searching for a bar to scream-sing your favorite 2000s hits played by a live band? Look no further than this midtown Irish pub. Family owned and operated, Willie McBride’s has it all — from a boozy brunch to a stretch limo that will pick you up outside your apartment and drop you at the door. Schedule an open bar with your friends or your next birthday party in a private room. Just make sure you do it on a night with one of these awesome artists:

January 4th — Band of Make Believe at 11 PM

This cover band truly does it all. From The Killers to Fall Out Boy to Ariana Grande and beyond — they perform it. Band of Make Believe has six members and dubs themselves “New Jersey’s premier cover band”, mixing the classics with today’s pop music. January 5th — Nine Deeez Nite at 11 PM

Throw it back to the decade of pop-punk and low-rise jeans with this 90’s tribute band, Nine Deeez Nite. They previously opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Metlife Stadium and perform at Rutgers University Dance Marathon each year. Featuring songs by artists like the Backstreet Boys, Vanilla Ice, and Snoop Dog, this four-man band is sure to bring out your inner teenager. Check it out here.

January 11th — Hayward at 11 PM

This NJ pop-rock band is another regular at Willie McBride’s with a set list ranging from Blink 182 to Michael Jackson to The Weeknd. Tip—there’s no cover for this event! Come out and enjoy a night with these talented musicians who own the stage. For more information, head here.

January 12th — Almost Easy at 11 PM

More than just a band, Almost Easy is a full form of entertainment. Each 6 of its members hail from the tri-state area and have been in the music business for decades. Jam along to music’s greatest hits from yesterday and today. For more information, head here.

January 19th – The Event Horizon at 11 PM

Try not to lose your voice because The Event Horizon knows not only the hits from each decade but from each genre. The band plays songs from 2000’s hip-hop, EDM, ’80s, and country. These five members and their high energy are sure to make your night memorable. See more information here.

January 25th – Brian Kirk and the Jirks at 11 PM

They’re back! Brian Kirk and the Jirks have been covering songs on the East Coast since the early 1990s with Brian and eight band members. The relationship Brian has with his audience is irreplaceable and Hoboken is lucky to host these talented artists every month. See more information here.

January 26th – The Benjamins at 11 PM

It wouldn’t be a complete month of live music without The Benjamins—a band that tours country-wide and has been featured on countless radio stations and TV channels. Join them for an intimate concert and an unforgettable performance at 11 PM. For more information, head here.

Fox and Crow {594 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City}

Check out this intimate Jersey City venue. Fox and Crow is known for its mouth-watering food, live music events, and friendly wait staff. Its stage is perfect for any artist—from singer-songwriters to full-fledged bands. The atmosphere is relaxing, yet high-energy. If that doesn’t convince you, order any one of the burgers on the menu and don’t worry, you’ll be back for more.

January 17th — Spaghetti Sessions Songwriter Showcase at 8 PM

The Fox and Crow has been hosting a monthly workshop for songwriters in downtown Jersey City since 2011 and this event will showcase those artists. Discover new music, eat a great meal, and even immerse yourself in this impressive community. See more information here.

White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Avenue, Jersey City}

Opened in 1910, this live music hall also hosts theatre and dance performances, comedy shows, and film screenings. This beautiful, old-style building has two floors and no matter where you stand, you can hear the sounds perfectly. The interior features colorful lighting, stain-glass art, and box-beam ceilings.

January 23rd — The James Hunter Six at 8 PM

Englishman James Hunter rose to fame in 2006 with his first U.S. hit “People Gonna Talk” and now he’s fresh off of his fourth Album “Hold On!”. He’s topped the Billboard Blues chart and received a Grammy-nomination, so it’s no surprise his show will sell out quickly in Jersey City. Tickets are $25 and the doors open at 7 PM. January 24th — Marla Mase: Miracles Lost & Found at 8 PM

A “Rock-n-Roll Rumination”, Marla Mase is a multi-talented artist, combining pop and rock music, modern opera, and spoken word. Miracles-Lost & Found is not only a concert but an experience of a lifetime that will have you on your feet at the JCTC Theatre. Tickets are $15 to $20 and the doors open at 7:30 PM.
