After closing down several streets in Hoboken the last few weeks as part of an “open streets” pilot, Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla announced the continuation of Hoboken’s open streets pilot this weekend on a variety of Hoboken blocks — 17 to be exact.
In a Nixle alert to subscribers, the continuation of the open streets was announced. The open streets will start Saturday and will continue to run Sunday from 8:00AM-8:00PM, on the following blocks:
- – Jackson Street between 2nd Street and 7th Streets
- – 7th Street between Grand Street and Jackson Streets
- – Jefferson Street between 6th and 8th Streets
- – Adams Street between 6th and 9th Streets
- – Grand Street between 7th and 9th Streets
Similarly to the Jefferson Street, Park Avenue, and Adam Street closures during the open street pilot, walking, jogging, and biking are permitted on the open street, while “congregating” is prohibited. Face masks should be worn at all times, according to the Mayor.
“The purpose of the open streets pilot is to provide additional space for social distancing for residents outdoors and alleviate overcrowding in City parks and other public spaces” he shared in a press release previously.

In addition to the street closures, traffic control officers (TCOs) will be on hand to assist residents in vehicles who need access to enter or exit their garages. Residents do not need to move their vehicles parked on Adams Street in advance of the weekend and can exit the streets in their vehicles on Saturday or Sunday.
