A socially distanced event is taking place in Jersey City that will not only be an opportunity to get out of your house and do something fun, but to learn about and celebrate the rich Indian culture. Tomorrow, Saturday, October 24, Surati for Performing Arts will host their 2nd Annual Fall Colors Walk and Navratri Celebration from 10:00AM – 2:00PM. About the Event
Participants will meet at City Hall and will have the opportunity to take an all-level Vinyasa yoga class from Chilltown Yoga. Afterward, everyone will walk along the waterfront to the beat of dhol drummers and throwing the vibrant powdered colors into the air. The walk ends in front of Zaaz Indian cuisine restaurant where participants can learn Dandia dances and watch performances. Contactless temperature checks will occur with all in attendance. This is a socially distanced walk where masks are mandatory
The Fall Colors Walk is comes alive through a collaboration with support from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, administered by the Hudson County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs and county executive Thomas A Degise.

Tickets range from $25 for one person to $135 for a group. Purchase your tickets here. With your ticket, you’ll get a t-shirt, color packets, Dandiya sticks, masks, and hand sanitizer {first-come-first-served-basis}.
What is the Holi Hai
Holi Hai is a Hindu festival that originated thousands of years ago. It is also known as the Indian “festival of spring,” the”festival of colors,” or the “festival of love.” The festival represents the victory of good over evil. Although it originated in India, it has become a celebration that other Asian countries, as well as the Western world, participate in. Participants gather together, listen to traditional music and drummers, eat delicacies, and throw colored powders in the air and on each other {anyone is fair game!}. It is a beautiful way to come together as a community.
