A new Whole Foods concept is coming to Hoboken. 101-105 Washington Street in downtown Hoboken will become a new Whole Foods Daily Market location, according to materials filed by the Whole Foods Team. We first reported on the news back in March, and as of September 2025, a “coming soon” sign was up in the space. Signage was going up as of November 2025, but a stop work order was spotted in the space on Monday, November 10th. Read on for more about Whole Foods Daily Market coming to Hoboken, New Jersey.

What’s Coming to 101-105 Washington Street in Hoboken?

The first hint of the incoming Whole Foods Daily Market came in late 2024 when The Hoboken Girl reported on application materials submitted to Hoboken’s Planning Board. The latest information is that at the March 18th meeting of the Hoboken Zoning Board of Adjustment, materials were presented to advance Whole Foods’ application materials for opening in Hoboken. The board voted unanimously to approve the application.

Per the application materials, “The Applicant is proposing a fit-out of the existing 14,521 SF (gross) retail building to develop a Whole Foods Market. The basement floor will be 5,640 GSF, the first floor will be 5,921 GSF, the second floor will be 1,480 GSF, and the third floor will be 1,480 GSF. The portion of the food store/supermarket open to the public will operate on the first floor, and will be open between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM.”

The store will be a model called the Whole Foods Daily Market. There are three locations in NYC that have the same format: 1175 Third Avenue, 409 E 14th Street, and 301 West 50th Street. The Daily Market format is a smaller store for urban neighborhoods that offers the same fresh foods and brands as traditional Whole Foods Markets. The Daily Markets will feature produce, meat, seafood, snacks, prepared foods, supplements, and some specialty items plus many Whole Foods store brands such as 365. The market will also offer a selection of locally produced goods.

The City of Hoboken shared the following statement with The Hoboken Girl about the stop work order:

“The City of Hoboken’s Construction Office issued a stop work order at 101–105 Washington St. after discovering work taking place without the proper permits and certifications. The order will remain in effect until all necessary permits are obtained, appropriate safety measures are implemented, and all work complies with City codes and regulations. City Officials have been in contact with the contractor and property owner to resolve the outstanding issues and to ensure construction can resume safely and in accordance with all regulations.”

As of November 12th, Whole Foods Market shared the following statement with The Hoboken Girl:

“The stop work order issued by the City of Hoboken is specific to exterior signage permitting and does not impact our opening date. We are working closely with city officials to resolve and look forward to serving the Hoboken community with high quality natural and organic products beginning December 18th.”
