Meet P.J. Clarke’s, Minnesota Twins, Francois, Pascal, Lucien, Namaste, Dharma, and Derby — eight dogs that are looking to be adopted in the North Jersey or New York City area. While all of these pups have different personalities, they are all looking for a loving forever family to spend the rest of their lives with. Read on to learn more about P.J. Clarke’s, Minnesota Twins, Francois, Pascal, Lucien, Namaste, Dharma, and Derby, and how to adopt any of these dogs from Waldo’s Rescue Pen or Wise Animal Rescue.

Snap Fitness JC

Name: P.J. Clarke’s

Harborside Sport + Spine

Breed: Weimaraner/Pointer/Chocolate Lab mix (Waldo’s is not 100% sure)

Hobbs Inc

Age: 45 pounds

Weight: Waldo’ was told that P.J. Clarke’s is 3 years old, but the rescue thinks he is between 1 and 1.5 years old.

Ideal Home: P.J. Clarke’s would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard to run with work-from-home parent(s) — although he is doing great in the city. Waldo’s wishes he had more room to run and romp with other dogs.

Dogs: P.J. Clarke’s is great with other dogs, and loves to play.

Cats: Unknown — has not been around cats yet.

Kids: P.J. Clarke’s seems a little timid with kids, but if calmly introduced, he would be great with them.

Crate-Trained: Yes — he will cry for a bit and then rest.

House Trained: Yes, he has no accidents.

Leash Manners: P.J. Clarke’s gets excited around squirrels and birds, but is manageable and is learning how to heel.

Personality: P.J. Clarke’s is so sweet and loveable. He just wants to cuddle as close as he can get to you. He has puppy energy, so he gets the zoomies, but loves to run and play with squeaky toys. He’s a very special and smart dog and learns very quick.

Why he/she was brought to the rescue: P.J. Clarke’s was returned by owners after being believed to be killing their chickens (he’s got a little hunter in him, so Waldo’s can see that, but he never bites outside of play and is super super sweet).

Minnesota Twins

Waldo’s Rescue Pen

minnesota twins

Name: Minnesota Twins

Breed: Mixed

Age: 1-3 — Waldo’s thinks he is closer to 1 year old.

Weight: 35 pounds

Ideal Home: Minnesota Twins’ really would fit into any type of home. The only thing he doesn’t respond well to is yelling or anger. He’s a people pleaser to his core, so he will get scared and go hide if you yell at him, but is really good at obeying gentle corrections if he’s doing something he shouldn’t be.

Dogs: Yes

Cats: Yes

Kids: Yes

Crate-Trained: Yes

House Trained: Yes

Leash Manners: Minnesota Twins’ walks great on his leash and loves to stop to say hello to other people and dogs.

Other training: Minnesota Twins’ is great at following directions. If you tell him to be quiet or stop doing something, he listens.

Personality: Minnesota Twins’ is the sweetest, most gentle bigger dog you’ll ever meet. He takes all of his cues from his person, so if you’re up for a long walk, so is he, but if you’re feeling lazy, he’s just as happy to take a short potty break and then curl up next to you. He’s been great with every cat, dog, and person he has met.

Why he/she was brought to the rescue: Minnesota Twins’ was found with another dog at an abandoned mobile home and has worked really hard to learn that when people leave, they come back.

Francois

Wise Animal Rescue

francois

Name: Francois

Breed: Miniature Poodle

Age: 8 weeks

Ideal Home: Francois is very young and is looking for a home with people who are home more often than not to spend time playing and training him. He had a rough start to life and will need a family who socialize him and boost his confidence. WISE would prefer that he go into a home with another adult dog to show him the ropes.

Dogs: Yes — Francois loves other dogs. He spends most of the day chasing and wrestling his siblings.

Cats: Yes

Kids: Above the age of 6 due to his small size.

Crate-Trained: Working on it — he cries at first but then settles down and does well.

House Trained: Working on it — hith a consistent schedule, he rarely has an accident.

Other training: Francois is very young and is working on puppy manners and basic obedience. He will need continued training to help him become the best dog he can be. He is learning how to walk on a leash and making progress each day. He will need a patient family who can work on boosting his confidence.

Personality: Francois is ready to give you all the love in the world. He is happiest when in the company of people and other dogs. He loves everyone he meets and will instantly cover their face in puppy kisses. Got an empty lap? Not anymore! Francois will jump in it and curl up to take a nap. He enjoys spending time outside and exploring.

Why he/she was brought to the rescue: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Francois were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs — healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects — who are destined to be killed for no reason.

Derby

derby

Other Training: Derby had little socialization before coming to WISE due to his past life. He needs a patient, understanding family who will work on his training and socialization.

Personality: After spending his whole life in a cage, used over and over for breeding, Derby is looking for a loving home that will teach him that the world is a good place. Despite all this, he is so loving and his sweet personality is starting to shine. He looks forward to a life of lap and luxury.

Why he/she was brought to the rescue: Derby was rescued from a horrible puppy mill situation where he was used for breeding most of his life. When he was determined “unfit” to be used in their ‘breeding program’, they were going to euthanize him. WISE wasn’t going to let that happen and saved this adorable boy.
