Very rarely can you find a place that gives you a real taste of what authentic cuisine tastes like from a destination abroad — but for the Jersey City locals, finding exquisite and authentic French pastries is no longer a rare and unexpected find {thanks Choc-o-Pain and Madame Claude Bis!}. Now we’re adding another one to the ranks de la Français: Vogue Cafè, located at 177 York Street in Jersey City, is buzzing as a unique little french patisserie among the locals. Check out what we loved about Vogue Café during our visit:
The Atmosphere:
As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by several pastries and sandwiches to devour {and usually a warm bonjour!}. Vogue Café, owned by Chef Yacine Alexander, is a small, very unassuming café located near Grand Street, you can barely see the sign of this small quaint little café while walking down Marin Boulevard. As inconspicuous as it may seem, the seating inside is quite large — and when you walk in, there are small bistro-style tables to sit at the front and a few larger tables further in that can seat larger groups. The quaint café also has a lovely outdoor space in the back, perfect to outside once the weather warms up.

The Sweets:
Of course, the usual items include croissants and pain au chocolat, two French staple pastries that are to-die-for, always {seriously even Starbucks makes a good pain au chocolat – but when the owners are French you know it’s gonna be good}. The croissant is light, flaky and oh-so-buttery. As for the pain au chocolat, these pastries are HUGE and can potentially feed two {but we’re not sharing}. Craving something a little different and trendy? The café also offers a Matcha Tarte.
Other Menu Items:
If you don’t have a sweet tooth — don’t fret. For a savory croissant, Vogue Cafe serves Jambon Fromage, Spinach and Feta, Boeuf Bourginon, and Ratatouille plus a variety of sandwiches to choose from.

But let’s not forget the coffee {or the matcha — yes, more matcha}: this little place can accommodate all your coffee needs while you enjoy your French goodies. A great place for a latte, a catch-up with old friends, and of course, a croissant.
