Kristy Fitzgerald, Founder of KMF Therapy and Morgan Hopper, LAC
Kristy Fitzgerald, LMFT, is a licensed therapist with over 10 years of experience practicing in New York and New Jersey. She graduated with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2010. Kristy opened a private practice in 2013 in New York City and recently expanded with a New Jersey branch in 2021.
“I’ve spent the last decade developing a diverse, multifaceted counseling philosophy to help my clients reach their full potential. My integrative approach meets the clients and families where they’re at so, together, we can collaborate towards healthy, constructive goals,” Kristy told Hoboken Girl. “I love working with clients and helping them gain insight, break through old patterns, and ultimately thrive.”
Connection and trust are vital in a client/therapist relationship so Kristy prioritizes the needs of the client over anything else.
“The most rewarding part of this work is developing a safe and healthy relationship with our clients that allows them to heal and grow,” Kristy shared. “We believe that a client’s ability to connect and relate to the therapist is the most important thing so we support clients in their search for the right fit, even if that means referring them to providers in our trusted network of colleagues.”

The practice offers individual, couple, and family sessions, specializing in addiction and trauma work — including EMDR, which is a psychotherapy method that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that result from trauma. Clients can also receive guidance in navigating women’s issues such as infertility, hormonal changes, and postpartum depression.
Individual Therapy sessions are done one-on-one in a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment. Sessions run for 45 minutes and aim to help individuals break through old patterns to reach their full potential.
Couples and Family Therapy sessions run for 60 minutes and allow the clients an opportunity to feel heard, resolve conflict and strengthen bonds through effective, guided communication.
Group Therapy sessions are a unique option providing the space for individuals to work alongside others with similar experiences towards mutual growth and development. Clients often combine group therapy and individual sessions. Group therapy sessions last 90 minutes.
Telehealth Therapy is a convenient and confidential way to access the benefits of therapy from your own home. The nature of these sessions, including frequency and duration, are tailored to meet the needs of each client.
